I'm not sure there is an argument though. You don't buy a number of tickets to games, you buy one ticket that entitles you to go to all games during a season. It's entirely like the petrol analogy - the petrol station had my money in advance, I used some of the petrol during the 17.5% period and some is unused and will be used in the 15% period.

What a nice gesture it'd be for the club to refund this ahead of Xmas

It'd be worth itself in terms of positive marketing especially considering unrest over the treatment of fans by other areas of the club

They won't send everyone a cheque for a fiver - they'd send a voucher to be used in the megastore and you'd end up spending more money.

Mind you, even though nothing is owed to anybody, the idea of a £5 voucher is a nice one. Make it valid on sales of, maybe, £30 or more and it might encourage people to go and spend money that they hadn't planned to spend, or tip the waverers to get what they wanted.

According to the radio this morning, a spokesman for RFC said that they would be passing on the VAT reductions on ticket sales and merchandise.

From this, I would assume that although ST holders have already paid for this year, this should mean that for next season, ST's will have 15% VAT on them, as the reduction runs for a year! Therefore, paying up front for a ST will definitely be the best option, if people can afford it!

If I bought a ticket for the Coventry game today, before this 'change' they would have charged me £26.50 (or £29.50 in the Upper West).

Now it's £26 (or £29).

The proper prices should have been £25.93 and £28.87 (UW).

In the first case the club have conned me out of 7p, in the second, nearly DOUBLE that - 13p.

Have they put the prices up then??? am sure it is £22-50 now in the three proper stands!!

You missed the bit about 'today' - paying on the day is £4 more.

So before this chnage they would have charged you £27 or£30, right???

As can be easily seen, the only losers from the price cuts will be adults who buy in the Upper West, or adults who pay on the day. Everybody else gains. People who sit in the Upper West are all rich anyway, so won't miss the extra 5p, and people who pay on the day are mugs, who should be used to being taken to the cleaners at every opportunity.

I see where my mistake was - I thought the ticket prices were £22.50 - reducing to £22.

Whereas they're actually £23 reducing to £22.50

As it is I CAN'T BELIEVE the club are wasting such huge amounts over this. They're costing us some serious money per ticket that could better be spent on players. EVERYONE would have been happy to spend the extra 5 p or whatever to secure decent signings, but as it is, Madjeski has taken the easy option - and not even made it an issue by LOSING MONEY.

The duty on petrol went up to cover it tho

I think that you will find that the cheating barstewards actually increased fuel duty by more than the cut in VAT - thus still managing to fool some of the people all of the time.

BTW did any of the food and non alcoholic drinks prices get reduced at the Mad Stad?

The club collect VAT on behalf of the government, The money has been collected and therefore passed on to the government on the quarterly VAT return.
