Luton are canned. Made a good fight of it but just about an insuperable barrier to overcome. Burton not yet replacing them after a late recovery by Kidderminster.

Leicester must wait another game for promotion. Charlton, Cheltenham and Hereford live to fight another day. Northwich are just about still alive.

The way that they've been treated is an absolute disgrace.

One club is allowed to relocate 80 miles and change it's name.

Another is kicked out of the league for minor financial offences.

I feel sorry for Luton fans, but this was not the club's first offence, and whilst the punishment was heavy, most important is that is is applied equally in future. I await decision on Southampton's future with interest, as their case seems to have some parallels to Luton's.

I take your point about MK, but the rest is rubbish mate. Minor Financial Offences? Do me a favour, are you suggesting teams should be allowed to operate as Luton have for years (ie spending money they didnt have then writing it off) and get away with it? For what Luton have done they should have been kicked out the League last Summer, but that would have finished them off completely as The Conference wouldn't have accepted them.

& dont give me this crap about it being a previous administration and the fans dont deserve it. That makes it Ok does it? If my company goes bust i go with it, harsh but thats the way it is.

As it stands Luton get to rebuild from the 5th Division. a damn sight better off than the likes of Halifax, Boston, Newport, etc and Aldershot who took 15 years to get back.

Conference update
Crawley Town drew with Kettering Town away on Wednesday to knock the latter out of contention for a top-five finish and keep themselves in play, but that was nullified by Histon's home defeat of Ebbsfleet on Thursday

With their win, Histon raised the minimum attainable points tally for playoff qualification to 78, and only the current top seven remain in play for a top-five finish: Burton Albion (on 88 points); Cambridge Utd (on 82); Histon, Torquay and Kidderminster (each on 78); Stevenage (77) and Oxf*rd (74) --the last having taken a five-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player; it's also worth noting that they've played a game more than anyone in front of them whom they still could catch

Burton Albion will try again to win the division outright when they face Oxf*rd at home Friday night. With a six-point edge over Cambridge and two games left for both, Burton have a goal-difference differential over the latter that has been pared down to +6, so they'll be gunning for a result and to put this one to bed at last after going 1W 1D 3L over their last five and 4W 2D 6L over their last dozen

Saturday's key matchups in the chase for the top five are Histon v. Kidderminster and Stevenage v. Torquay. Cambridge play Salisbury away and would secure a top-five finish if they were to win. Next Tuesday, Stevenage host Kidderminster in what figures to be an encounter of major significance in the chase for the playoff spots

Thank god its not like that any more.

I've watched football for 20 years this year, and I've never come across anything like that in all thse games I've watched.. The closest I've seen to any kind of violence resembling that was the numerous pubs smashed by Reading at Oxford, and running street battles that ensued. Part of me hankers for those days, the aggression, the intimidation, the fear and apprehension that those incidents would provoke. On the flip side, I'm quite content with some verbal in the confines of a stadium now.

Burton doing a creditable impession of Sisyphus if nothing else.

They've got Torquay away with all to play for on Sunday week, and if they lose that, then Cambridge would pip them to the title by winning their final two and overhauling a goal-difference differential than now stands at +5 (which would get pared down to +2 on results alone); Burton have an unassailable edge in goals scored, so the only hope for Cambridge is to get the results to go their way and to get three additional goals on their side as they finish with Salisbury away and Altrincham at home.

Of course, it never should've come to anything like this. Sheesh.
