Alan West says bring back the "Royals Anthem"

Why does this have to be the "anthem" that gets the crowd into a frenzy. My personal choice of music would go: Royals Anthem, pre-match video with Ashes or Lux Aeterna and maybe then an "anthem".

Also, most clubs don't have anthems and our last attempt back in autumn 2005 to create one ended in failure. If ever there was an opportunity to get one it was probably with Sweet Caroline at the end of 2005/2006.

The Royals Anthem is cringeworthy and does nothing to generate excitement or anticipation. It's an old-throw back to EP, sure, but that was a long time ago and the reality is that a large number of supporters won't feel any connection to that era.

I agree with previous posters that the lux aeterna music should be brought back. This really did generate atmosphere and excitement and it really got the crowd going moments before kick off.

I have heard the royals anthem played a couple of times at the mad stad and over the rubbish PA system no-one could hear it, certainly no-one was singing along - it sounded embarrassing in all honesty.

Agreed...we always play Ashes when we're shit - the season before promotion and last year when we failed to go back up. I say ban all music from games except for Hockey goal horns when goals are scored to piss off opposing fans a treat.

For all those people that say it is cringe worthy and other fans would mock us, well, I live in the North West have this on CD. Many of my friends (nearly all of them) suport other clubs, they have heard this song many times, now whilst they all say it is cheesy, they think it is catchy and some supporters (mainly Blackburn and Bolton fans) wish they had a song about their team as good as that. So whilst it may not be perfect, fans of other clubs do respect it.

Oh and I went to watch Morecambe at Chester City about 6 years ago (in the conference), Chester City had just had a new "anthem" recorded. Now if you'd heard that, now that was REALLY cringe worthy!
