PlasticRoyale How the feck is anyone going to FORCE JM OUT - 4fs

There have been Chairmen like him forced out of other clubs 4FS!

As I mentioned in the other thread, people can only put up with the McGhee/Pardew type vitriol for so long.

They say there's no such thing as bad publicity but I'm not sure that is a concept that Madejski will be entirely comfortable with.

See my response of the other thread. If you do manage to force him to walk away from his multi-million pound investment, what then?

Anyone else? Like those who "rescued" Portsmouth, or Notts County, or Wrexham, or Brighton etc etc etc etc etc

Chairman Sir John Madejski was also pleased with the deal.

"I would like to welcome Matthew to Reading and I am absolutely delighted that he has joined," said Sir John.

"We have been tracking him for a considerable amount of time and we believe he is one of the very best players of his type.

"This acquisition shows our determination to get back into the Premier League. I am delighted with how we are shaping up and it will be an exciting season for all supporters.

As he culls half the squad with a fire sale during the January transfer window ,Egoman will still be quoting "I hope that this shows our fans our ambition to get back to premiership" zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Royal Lady I'd say that was almost certainly why Coppell didn't want to continue too - he knew there'd be no money and he knew he wouldn't be able to do a job for us without bringing in players to replace all those that we sold.

If we have no money available to bring in players in January, then, surely, it follows that we have no money to attract a competent, experienced manager. Therefore, McDermott will be manager until the end of the season, at least.

I can't even begin to contemplate what team we will be putting out each week if we get rid of even more players in January.

This is on a par with Thames Valley Royals for me. Unless we find a kindly benefactor, even for the short term, we are well and truly in the mire with the current chairman at the helm - and it pains me to say it, because he saved this club many moons ago - I really think he needs to have a press conference and state his intentions quite clearly to the masses. If he tells us that until such time he sells the club, he's not spending a penny more than he currently he is (ie on wages etc) - then at least we'll know, instead of this endless speculation.

If he tells us he is holding out for a specific amount of money, plus the right to continue to call the stadium The Madejski Stadium, we'll know that we have many more years, probably, of all this shite.

We might not like what we hear, but at least it would put an end to the constant speculation on here.

Coppell didnt want to continue because he knew he played a massive part in getting us into this mess

If SJM can find the right buyer then all well and good, but as Dirk says, I would rather him than some of the other crackpots out there trying to buy a club

There have been mistakes right throug the last 3 seasons, at all levels, running the club on a half decent financial footing isnt one of them though

I also heard the interview with Hammond on BBCRB but to be fair to him the thing that really struck me about his comments was that he almost seemed to be talking as an outsider. He didn't really seem too certain about what is going on at the Club and his comments seemed to began with 'you would have to ask the Chairman' as if he has been marginalised. From one or two other interviews it appears that Mr Howe has become more closely aligned to SJM recently so I have a feeling Hammond's position has been undermined by his choice of Rodgers as Manager. I actually think this is a pity because more than ever the Club needs a DoF or Manager who feels secure enough in his position to advise SJM that a team's final position in the table is dictated by the quality and balance of the squad and not just the size.

Assuming whoever is Manager cannot squeeze any money out of the Chairman without moving anyone out then some difficult decisions need to be made about the current squad. That of course becomes extremely difficult unless a Manager has been appointed. I don't really understand why the Chairman has apparently wasted the last two weeks. If he had decided that McDermott is going to get the job then he should have been appointed immediately. If not then other Managers should have been interviewed in that time.

Whilst most people seem to think the Club has been well run as a business despite the high level of debt to the Chairman, as far as the running of a Football Club is concerned very few decisions have been correct for at least two years and it's time that situation changed otherwise the Club will be in exactly the same division as when SJM took over.

Out of interest which other chairmen "like him" have been forced out by fan protests?
