Jackie was with the club at Elm Park, Sara has been around as long as I can remember as well. There are plenty at the club who have been there since the EP days.

I think your memory is failing you then. We were in the Megastore a few years back and she came up and introduced herself to us as being new. I took it to mean that she had newly joined RFC not that she had got a new job.

Jackie Evans is a real friend of supporters and completely understands their mentality and what makes them tick. If she can't fix things no one can and I get the impression she has fought a reasonable number of battles with senior business management on behalf of supporters' interests.

Anyway, having spent the last 15-20 years bribing the kiddiwinks to come and achieving this Families for Football award how about considering it job done and making next season 'Blokes for Football' as we still appear to make up 3/4 of the crowd and get F A for our years of pain.

I have been a customer of Nationwide, Barlcaycrd, Barclays, Coca Cola, Carling throughout their sponsorships and never got a bean let alone a cheap / free ticket. At least I got an egg off Waitrose. And I never got my HAT painted

Of course you're not going to get into a pissing contest when you know you are going to lose! You can remember back to Elm Park when it comes to Jackie Evans, which when you then say Sara has been around as long as you remember very strongly implies that you (wrongly) thought she was around at Elm Park too! I'm not sure how flattered she would be when you consider how old that would make her. I'm also very surprised that an expert on RFC and one with so many contacts and inside sources would get this wrong. Still maybe one of those sources will now settle the debate for us by letting you know when she actually joined!

Incidentally, Sara graduated from Reading University (a proper university!) with a First Class Honours Degree in Lingusitics in 2000, so if she joined RFC immediately as an untrained graduate, she could have been with the club 9 years.

You ignore the possibility that she worked for the club whilst a student.

It's a fairly 'simple' view that all clubs are useless at it though !

And the small clubs aren't in trouble because their marketing is bad (exactly how would you turn Chester City into a global brand ?)

I agree with you in many ways and even a simpleton can see that so many opportunities get missed ! But I think you over simplify (for example a market which is summed up by 'irrational love' is probably a hard one to sell into because by definition it is self limiting. You may have your 2000 hard core fans who will buy any tat but your average Football League club is probably going to find it pretty hard to sell to those who DON'T have that OCD connection to them. Most people will give a new beer / chocolate / breakfast cereal a try but how many will switch football clubs (or even take up with one for the first time)
