Podolski....again. Some random who never cut it at bayern who always produces for them in tournaments. Why don't we have anyone like him...instead we have emile heskey. Podolski is like 1 in 2 record for goals...thats world class.

Klose again also, the German team are so much better than as at tournaments despite having a weaker team on paper...its actually frightening.

Just because we hear the English players' names more in the press, does not mean we're stronger on paper

Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Terry and Cole are all recognized as top european players, Germany don't really have anyone of that calibre at club level who is that effective in the champions league - ballack isn't even there, possibly lahm. Its a mentality issue and the Germans are one million times stronger than we are. If we finished second and they win their group we get them in the next round don't we?

I really don't think we're better on paper. Podolski and Klose may have had crap seasons but you know they'll deliver here. Very few English players I'd take over the German team. Rooney yes, Gerrard probably, A Cole probably... Maybe an in form and fit Rio.

Only if it catches, or nearly catches someone midway up the lower leg. Cahill caught him just above the ankle, looked nasty. Yes he kinda fell into him, but it was v clumsy. No malice, but then there doesn't need to be. And Australia have been playing fairly dirty anyway.

Didn't realise you were a medical expert. Even tackles where the ball is won, block tackles and aerial challengles all have the ability to cause serious injury.

Well it's pretty freaking obvious that to break a leg you have to be going in hard at ankle height or up to about 6 - 8 inches higher pretty much directly at the leg to break it.

So you're going to have a hard time breaking a leg if your foot / knee doesn't go straight at the leg. Some tackles carry a high risk of serious injury, some a lower risk.

And I'm not saying it was a definite red, just that I can see why the ref gave it. And given he has a rep, it's not a surprise.
