Same view with Terry as captain. Don't like him as a person but we qualified under him and he should have stayed captain. Who cares that he had an affair with an ex-teammate's ex-girlfriend FFS? Does make you wonder how significant the captaincy was. It's certainly a variable between us doing well and doing badly.John Madejski's Wallet wrote:I dislike A.Cole with a passion, but even I admit he was head-and-shoulders above every other player
Same here. And I think he was our best in 2006 too.Shaka's Giant Hands wrote:As much as I hate to agree...Ferris wrote:Ashley Cole by a mile.

The reason Cole has been one of our best, if not the best, player at the last two World Cups is because he's a genuinely world class left back who knows what he's doing.
Heskey doesn't get in the 'Villa side, so why wasn't he equally as impressive seeing as he was 'fresh' too?Man Friday wrote:...and was fresh as he had just returned from a long term injury.Hoop Blah wrote:I'd love for some form of explanation and reasoning behind why Gerrard was so poor from those who've belittled his contribution.

Heskey did pretty much all that was expected of him when he played. Yes he missed his one on one chance (no surprise the though) but generallly he played pretty well. With Rooney not looking like a goal threat we couldn't then play Heskey because he just doesn't score enough.Thomas L'Heureux wrote:Heskey doesn't get in the 'Villa side, so why wasn't he equally as impressive seeing as he was 'fresh' too?Man Friday wrote:...and was fresh as he had just returned from a long term injury.Hoop Blah wrote:I'd love for some form of explanation and reasoning behind why Gerrard was so poor from those who've belittled his contribution.

I agree. Why is Rooney listed as a voting option here but not Heskey? Heskey performed better in the tournament.Hoop Blah wrote:Heskey did pretty much all that was expected of him when he played.
