This Premier League season would be pretty much perfect if West Ham could now seal 4th place. They still have United to play, and City play Arsenal, which helps, but it mathematically relies on City losing at Swansea on the last day.tulip wrote:The fairytale came true, love it!
It's SO SO good to see the big teams failing with all their money and advantages.
Hope that this signals a new era in football.
Its not a fairytale. Cinderella didn't build a massive new big house and refuse to pay for it. Then after that spend more money than she was allowed to move to a better neighbourhood so she could met meet Prince Charming.tulip wrote:The fairytale came true, love it!

Agreed. Liverpool and Spurs have invested heavily over the years and never won the Premier League.tulip wrote: It's SO SO good to see the big teams failing with all their money and advantages.

+1 . This is what makes Leicester's achievement greater than that of Forest, albeit Forest then went on to European successes.Maguire wrote:The real difference between Forest and this era is, of course, the money. The PL is nowhere near as level a playing field as the First Division was back when Forest won the title.

I don't really follow Franch football but Montpellier winning Ligue 1 a few seasons ago was a bit of a shock too wasn't it?genome wrote:Let's not forget FC Kaiserslautern winning the Bundesliga the year after being promoted in 1997/98

I don't think it is that so much as more about what they achieved in the 2015 calendar year and that they have within a year come from the bottom (and looking nailed-on for relegation) to the very top which is so outstanding.genome wrote:Let's not forget FC Kaiserslautern winning the Bundesliga the year after being promoted in 1997/98
I'm not sure whether people will agree with me, but I do think football nowadays is of a better quality than it was 30 odd years ago. Players seem to be fitter, technically more adept and the game is played at a higher pace.Silver Fox wrote:That's exactly why this could be an even bigger achievement than Forest
