The problem is, the only people who suffer for any real penalty is the fans.

The owners responsible can just sell on, they've usually achieved their goal of washing money anyway. The players get paid regardless and have likely moved on. Short of kicking a team out the league - only the fans lose - what are they going to do.

There's no appetite to grow a pair and accept that half a dozen sets of fans are going to have to suffer to clean up the game for the good of all.

I genuinely think that "but what about the fans" is the single worst argument in all of this.

Be draconian, teach the fans to actually think about the ownership etc of the club

Yep and even with the 12 point penalty, a win for them on Saturday v QPR (H) whilst we lose at PNE, would take them back above us on GD.

what coincidental timing!

That said, given PSG previously fell foul of FFP rules after the inflation of the real value of their sponsorship arrangements, I'm not sure how much this will help them.

Does he have any legal recourse on this? He is financially out of pocket due to Bolton being Bolton.

Forest Green should almost certainly get promotion from L2 now. It'll be criminal if they don't as they effectively have four Championship/League One level forwards in the squad.

So, Reading fans potentially have a trip to Nailsworth to look forward to next season. Don't get too excited, though. Despite sounding fairly quaint (Nailsworth is a village about half the size of Burghfield) The New Lawn is an abysmal place to watch football, even by non-league standards.

Disagree completely. Went there for the pre-season friendly in 2008 and found the supporters and ground to be excellent. I'd be surprised is Forest Green were promoted too, they're not that good.

Depends where you are, I guess. The old away end, behind the goal, is terrific. But last season they moved away supporters to the open terrace down the side. It has no roof, one toilet, no catering, a crap view and the exit is borderline dangerous (similar to the alleyway at the back of the Cuckoo Lane End at the Manor Ground (RIP). And you're so spread out its impossible to generate any kind of atmosphere.

Yep - fans are boycotting at the mo, and the 12 points will push them in to a relegation battle (though they would be 17th) but you have to think that the fans coming back to the club would boost them enough to be safe and have a fresh start.
