Nawwww, not in his DNA. He will be sticking around for one more season if for no other reason the Champions League football. After that? Who knows. I do believe him when he said that Leicester City will be his last job. When his run is over there so will be his career. He really is a quality manager so I don't see it going sideways for him for a few years at least. At least until there is major turnover in the squad and that camaraderie that carried them to the title is gone.Winston Smith wrote:If I was him I would walk away now. his stock will never be higher in Leicester fans eyes and maybe in english football fans eyes. if he stays he can only dent his new found reputation.
If he finishes mid-table next season it won't diminish a thing IMO. Particularly if they lose a bunch of players. You'd have to bet on them at least staying up, and with their new income, they can offer a big pay rise to the players for a year, with the promise they can leave if they're not still competing at the top at the end, and they can provide them + new recruits with Champions League Football.Winston Smith wrote:If I was him I would walk away now. his stock will never be higher in Leicester fans eyes and maybe in english football fans eyes. if he stays he can only dent his new found reputation.
Yeah, cos that how football finances work. Some idiot will give them massive new 3-5 year contracts and forget about needing a relegation clause because now they've won the league nothing bad will ever happen to them. Really hope it doesn't happen but I can see them back in the Championship within 3 years with massive debts.Ian Royal wrote:they can offer a big pay rise to the players for a year

I hope the money Leicester are making from this success (and the offer of Champions League football) allows them to keep the players but I won't hold my breath. Money talks.
True, he'll probably end up with one of the top clubs like United or Arsenal then.....No Fixed Abode wrote: Money does talk - but so does longevity of success and size of the club.
But what if he wants to win the league again?Hoop Blah wrote:True, he'll probably end up with one of the top clubs like Arsenal then.....No Fixed Abode wrote: Money does talk - but so does longevity of success and size of the club.
He'll sign for City, or Liverpool....we all know it'll be there season next year.No Fixed Abode wrote:But what if he wants to win the league again?
he reportedly signed a new contract with them recently on £80k a week with no release clause.Hoop Blah wrote:Although by the same token Vardy may think that this summer is his one and only chance to make that big move on a mega-bucks contract at one of the big boys.
As a Reading fan I would be happy if we won the Premier League and then ended up in the championship 3 years on with massive debts...... as opposed to where we were with Anton, back in the championship with massive debts and no title. Likewise Portsmouth winning the FA Cup. These moments go down in history and are worth the pain that may follow.6ft Kerplunk wrote:Yeah, cos that how football finances work. Winning the PL and being back in the Championship within a few years is an absolute no brainer.Forbury Lion wrote:As a Reading fan I would be happy if we won the Premier League and then ended up in the championship 3 years on with massive debts...... as opposed to where we were with Anton, back in the championship with massive debts and no title. That Bale money at Spurs has basically been used to generate the current squad that they've got. It took players like Erikson and Lamela time to bed in.Jack Celliers wrote:Leicester's big problem next year might be the massive amount of money they now have available for transfers to increase the size of the squad for the Champion's league. It might be like the Bale money at Spurs, the Suarez money at Liverpool or the Benteke/Delph money at Villa and will probably be spent on shit players from minor European leagues or Spain, who dilute the squad and make everything a bit more rubbish. Some of these players will still be at the club when they are back in the Championship in 2020.
Erikson looks a great player, and Lamela and Chadli have been great at times, but Spurs bought about eight players with their £85,000, many of whom went into the first team and weren't half as good as Sigurdson, who they discarded. If Leicester spend their money on the likes of Chiriches, Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue, etc, they are stuffed.stealthpapes wrote:That Bale money at Spurs has basically been used to generate the current squad that they've got.
