Kelvin E scores on his debut for AC Horsens against FC Midtjylland in the Danish league after coming off the bench for the last half hour.

The race to sign Jordan Holsgrove

https://www.record.pt/futebol/futebol-n ... ve-estoril

Charlton, Werder Bremen, Augsburg and Hamburg from the Bundesliga, and Wolverhampton, where César Peixoto plays, are interested in the player who came through Reading's youth system. Estoril wants €3.5 million for the Scottish player, who in turn wants to leave the Estoril team in this summer transfer window and take his career in a new direction. Germany and England are the leagues that appeal to the footballer.

Would the Club receive any money?

In FIFA solidarity payments, we'd be due roughly €140k at that transfer price.

Was there a sell on clause? He was rated here at the time so you’d think the club would have moved to get one included.

I'm not sure if there would be an active clause. IIRC, we sold him to a Spanish side (Celta Vigo?). I'm not sure what the deal was for him to move to Estoril (he could've been out of contract before signing).

If there's still a chain of sell on fees going on, I can't imagine we'd receive a lot (10% of 10% would be €35k for example).

Done very well. That money we got for him doesn’t look so generous now

Has a club ever been pissed off to announce a player has signed a new contract?

I can think of Leeds getting stung with a promotion buy out clause during the Covid years.

Oh, yeah, that fella from RB Leipzig. He was absolute garbage in the Championship but they agreed some ridiculously high fee, something like £30m.

Normally I'd say that's quite unfortunate but it's Leeds, so it's incredibly funny.

...back on topic - Vito Mannone being noisily lauded by Crawley fans in last nights clean sheet at York in't Cup Preliminary Rnd

...had only the vaguest recollection of him between our sticks - had to look it up  - nominally with us for 2-3 years end of the 10s but we sent him out on loan for a lot of that?

The epitome of average and cost £2m plus reportedly an extremely high wage. Hence why we tried to keep loaning out

...looking at typical defensive selections in 17-18 our back four certainly 'under achieved' that term - Mannone played 41 behind a mix of Moore, Illori, McShane, Gunter, Richards O., Blackett etc - I didn't look exhaustively - we only mustered 5 clean sheets (?) in League games that season - finished 20th! :( :|

Came in after Al-Habsi departed.

I don’t remember him being bad but one of the signs of Relegation Vortex is constantly changing keepers. The next season we used four (Martinez one of them). The season after, he was out on loan and we went Virginia then Cabral.

He made a total of 47 appearances (nearly all, 41, in 2017-18) between 2017-18 & 2019-20. He is now 38 and actually player/coach at Crawley. He needs to work the Crawley keepers on conceding from the halfway line though

(if true) good luck to the lad, and even better for his bank balance.

If only he hadn’t snapped that tendon when we had him in the palms of our hands
