Royal Rother I wouldn't know for myself what he's like as a human being but as a footballer he gave us decent service. The level of hatred pouring forth from the numbskull element on here is, as usual, almost totally unjustified and, tbh, somewhat embarrassing.

Royal Rotherunder the tinWoodcote Royal Which goes to show (if the last 10 pages haven't already made this abundantly clear) that you know the square route of naff all when it comes to financial success, financial control, maintaining several income streams, knowing what constitutes an income stream or, indeed, that what is currently taking place at Leicester has little to do with any of this.
So you don't think that the commercial department at Leicester aren't going to milk this kind of activity for all its worth ?
So you think that the exposure generated by marquee signings, like mills,(I'm personally no Mills fan), having an ex England manager
(I don't rate him either) is not going to have a positive effect on ticket sales there, is not going to help sell corporate sponsorship, is not going to have a positive effect on merchandising sales, is not going to help sell perimeter and programme advertising, at better rates?
Dear oh dear. If the cap fits......
P.S.
I am just old school. Brought up to believe that customers make paydays possible.
Signing Matt Mills won't have a noticeable effect on any of Leicester's income streams.

Libertine Great money for Mills. Hammond strikes again...great deal!!!!![]()
We need another experienced CB, and preferably one with some pace. And if we sell Long for the reported 10M we are looking for I don't want to hear any nonsense about an alleged black hole when 95% of the money isn't reinvested in the squad...which I believe it won't.![]()

We dumped most of our high wage players. We've had back to back deep runs in the FA Cup. We made the play-off championship game last year. Reading FC can't be hurting for money. Everyone praises the club for being "well run". Well, imho, a major part of being a "well run" club is making sure investments are made in the club. That is as important as the not overspending being part of the definition of "well run".

So in a nutshell - Leicester are an ambitious club which has a great chance of reaching the PL. Reading have no chance because we don't invest and there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes.
Also Wolves did not deserve him because they messed about and did not come up with the money quickly enough.

floyd__streete He has moved on to a club in our own division who we beat twice last season and who finished several places lower than us last season.....in order to further his career.
A damning verdict if ever there was one. Particularly as he insists that he wasn't looking for a move. But a switch to Leicester gives him the chance to realise ambitions he presumably doesn't think he can realise with RFC - i.e promotion to the Premier League and then staying there through serious investment in the playing squad.

loyalroyal4life Mills has moved to a team that does have a great chance of promotion whilst playing on higher wages. We fall short of both these facts on paper.
To be honest i think it was the right move for both parties, we can certainly cope without him
by DOYLERSAROYALER » 09 Jul 2011 13:49
ZacNaloen On the other hand you have Mcanuff and Hal (who was out of contract and had first team offers elsewhere) who say that they want to play at RFC because you spend a fortune on players but you can't buy what they've got at RFC and think that we are doing it the "right" way.
He's another who thinks that overspending on players = ambition.
