Chris Kirchner's attempt to buy financially stricken club Derby County is in danger of collapsing, despite the American insisting the takeover will happen.

The businessman was named as preferred bidder to take the club out of administration on 6 April.

Kirchner has told BBC Sport that he expects the deal to be done today.

BBC Radio Derby reports that funds promised by the 34-year-old to pay the Rams' wages for May have not arrived.

Yeah, I think the FL are requiring a more hands on approach for them to ensure the Administrators stop dicking everyone around.

Of course, if it was a L2 club they'd be gone already.

as per the rivals thread:

Andy Twigge (local BBC radio man in Derby) was interviewed last night and seemed to suggest it should all be fine. Said there are now between 6-8 parties interested in buying Derby and that one of those parties he spoke to said that with Kirchner, and his exclusivity agreement, out of the way, a deal could be done with one of the other interested parties in around 2 weeks.

They are no longer working on a preferred bid basis and have just asked all parties to submit a best and final offer so as to speed things up.

He did say though that a number of players contracts expire in 15 days time so its important to work towards getting it all resolved before that otherwise there is just another negative knock on effect for them to deal with

I can’t see how any institution could loan money to a company where income is basically zero, are already in administration and have no collateral to rely on, even if it were legal

Even at stupid rates of interest the potential for a default on the loan is massive, shirley
