FFP loss is 26.8m, so no chance of a points deduction. However, they had a 15.8m profit in 2019 which will drop off the calcs, so unless they raise a lot of money in sales soon, it will be virtually impossible for them to meet FFP as anything less than a 3.7m FFP profit will see them breach.

So basically, looking at it now, if it's not this season, it's probably going to be next season if it does happen? (That's only out of these next couple of years, not anything further on).

I read a bit of what Bristol's CEO said a few months ago how about a lot of their issues have come about after the transfer market crashed during Covid. I know a lot of clubs do it, but it just seems ironic how the word "sustainability" is mentioned a lot with football clubs yet selling your best players every 12 months seems like it isn't really a sustainable strategy.

Well they lost 23m for FFP this season alone, so they need to "find" 27m of savings this year to stand a chance - not sure who left in the summer and if they were high earners but yes, they must hope that most of that gap will be made up by selling the likes of Semenyo and is it Doherty, who looks like a talent. That is a lot to make up.

With signings though, they may just be thinking sod it, the points deduction is coming next year so lets try and make sure we lose those points as a Championship club rather than a L1 plus there is the likely embargo to go with it, so best to try and do some business whilst they can.

On another note, I guess we may well see our accounts soon enough, which could be fun.

I think the main 3 players they could get some good value out of are Semenyo, Tommy Conway and Han-Noah Massengo. They did turn down a reported bid of £10m for Semenyo last January I think from Celtic if memory serves, so there could be a decent bit of cash sat in those 3 players.

But it may be a case of take whatever punishment is coming and keep the squad together in order to survive in the Championship, if they manage to do that.

It seems like their wages have gone down by about £5m though, which may be explained by a few free transfer signings this summer that they made from other clubs.

But it may be a case of take whatever punishment is coming and keep the squad together in order to survive in the Championship, if they manage to do that.

It seems like their wages have gone down by about £5m though, which may be explained by a few free transfer signings this summer that they made from other clubs.

Semenyo could be an interesting one, he is technically OOC next summer but BC can and will take out a 1 year option on him - would imagine they may be hard pushed to get many big offers knowing that and their financial situation.

Massengo is OOC next summer and so far turned down any offer to sign a new deal.

Conway (that's the name I couldn't remember) - is the one where they could get a big fee. He looks a talent and at 20 will likely only get better.

Risky strategy in many ways though overspending in the expectation that you will be able to recoup - when it works great but in times like we have seen of late, much trickier and could cause problems.

Yeah I didn't realise the former 2 were out of contract, so would imagine that Massengo would probably move on, Semenyo won't be commanding a £10m fee with just a one-year deal if they even sell him and Conway might be able to bring in some cash, but I don't know how much someone would be willing to pay. He started the season on fire but not sure how he has done since the opening sort of half a dozen games, although 9 goals isn't anything to be sniffed at and should comfortably finish on about 15 for the season.

But yeah, not sure sustainability exists if you're constantly overspending, and you are reliant on a big sale or two for your players each season.

It's a club option apparently and one Bristol will almost definitely be taking up even, if just to then sell.

He's managed 1 minute at the WC so far, so unless he comes on v Uruguay, turns the game to take them through, doesn't look like he's going to see a WC bonus attached to his fee.

I think their biggest sellable asset is Alex Scott, only 19 but will go for a minimum of £10m. Not sure what length of contract he is on currently though, if it’s still a relatively junior contract I am sure they’ll be trying to get him signed up on a 4 year deal asap before he gets tapped up by some arseholes like Brentford or Crystal Palace who are experts at “discovering” new talent/preying on clubs in a vulnerable financial position and feed off the bones, take your pick!
