Anfield Road coming along nicely. Still looks bizarre seeing the new stand gobble up the old stand.

The old roof was meant to be removed during the WC but fans kicked off as they would have got wet for a few months in the corner of the SKD stand. Will be finished by summer.

Anfield capacity will be up to 61,000 when it’s complete which will make it the fourth highest capacity league ground in England after Old Trafford, the London Stadium and White Hart Lane.

Just for the record the 10 highest capacity proper football grounds (ie grounds used for regular league association football) in the world are:

1. Stade des Martyrs - AS Vita Club (DR Congo) - 100,000
2. Nou Camp - Barcelona - 99,354
3. Estadio Azteca - Club America - 87,523
4. Salt Lake Stadium - ATK Mohun Bagan (India) - 85,000
5. Signal Iduna Park - Borussia Dortmund - 81,365
6. Bernabeu - Real Madrid - 81,044
7. Estadio Munumental - Club Universitario de Deportes (Peru) - 80,093

shifting over my conversation from the Euro football thread about my new adventure of going to see a load of lower league grounds. which teams/grounds would you like to visit in tiers 3-5 if you could?

when looking within 2 hours or so from home I have Cheltenham & Forest Green quite high on my list for nearer ones. Notts County would be one too if I am going further

Carlisle is an absolutely brilliant ground - a proper old-school standing paddock in front of the main stand.

Accrington is also very much on my "must-see" list.

Accrington is also very much on my "must-see" list.

Yep, Brunton Park is decent. Was one of the grounds I managed to shoehorn into my JOGLE route, over a decade ago:
Inverness CT, Ross County, St. Johnstone, Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline Athletic, Hibs, Hearts, Queen of the South, Annan Athletic, Carlisle United, Morecambe, Preston North End, Everton, Liverpool, Tranmere, Wrexham, Shrewsbury Town, Wembley*, Bristol Rovers and Bristol City.

Visited Accrington when we played Burnley back in October. The Wham is a tidy little ground TBF, but properly tucked away in Northern suburbia. No idea how they coped when Leeds visited last weekend. Accrington is tiny, completely dwarfed by its more illustrious Blackburn and Burnley neighbours.

Inverness CT, Ross County, St. Johnstone, Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline Athletic, Hibs, Hearts, Queen of the South, Annan Athletic, Carlisle United, Morecambe, Preston North End, Everton, Liverpool, Tranmere, Wrexham, Shrewsbury Town, Wembley*, Bristol Rovers and Bristol City.

Yep, came down via Inverness > Aviemore > Pitlochry > Perth > Edinburgh > Moffat > Dumfries.

My long-term plan is a return LEJOG (or more accurately DING-LEJOG-DING) at some point and aim to take the western Glasgow > Fort William > Loch Ness route up, so hopefully I can pick up Greenock Morton then. And then after Inverness via Speyside > Aberdeen > Dundee > Edinburgh > Newcastle > home. Circa 2100 miles in total on initial calculations. Should knock off a few more grounds!

Somerset Pk another proper old school ground. There's still a few about in Scotland. I'd include places like Starks Park and I'd be tempted to include East End Park in that, although it's had some redevelopment.

There's a lot of new build one and two stand grounds in Scotland and they all look a bit shit, like a half built version of the aformentioned Tony Macaroni Stadium.

No, it's planned to be open for the 2024/25 League 1 season.

It's still very much a shell at the moment.

There's some talk that the Anfield Road expansion may not now be ready for the start of next season due to a cock up with how it connects to the SKD stand... Bonkers if true.
