I'll give you consistency, Bale has quiet days. But a lot better? I take it you don't mean a lot better than Bale's performance last night, as that honestly has to be one of the greatest left wing performances I've seen.6ft Kerplunk wrote:^^^ 'Greed, Giggs had been doing it consistently and a lot better for 3 or 4 years by the time he was 21.soggy biscuit wrote:Not in the same leagueBig Foot wrote:Is Bale better than Giggs was at 21?
Totally agree. Giggs had more skill (Bale is very direct) but Bale's delivery on the run is superb.Hoop Blah wrote:Giggs took a while to refine his decision making and final delivery (as do all wingers) but I'd say he was even quicker and more skillful than Bale currently.
Bale is possibly ahead of him in the quality of his balls into the right areas though. He's also stronger on the ball.
I'd have a Giggs over Bale at the moment though. If that changes in 10 years time then Bale has had an outstanding career.
I'm going to say yes because Giggs was putting in performances like Bale's last night when he was 17/18, by the time he was 21 everyone just took for granted how good he was.rhroyal wrote:I'll give you consistency, Bale has quiet days. Don't remember ever seeing ryan giggs giving two absolute poundings to the european champions both home and away like bale has done.Hoop Blah wrote:Giggs took a while to refine his decision making and final delivery (as do all wingers) but I'd say he was even quicker and more skillful than Bale currently.

what else should he do then?georgerob wrote:Bale is good but just relies on his pace to be effective in games and is only left footed
Messi is quite good, but only relies on a good finish and ability to take the piss out of people.georgerob wrote:Bale is good but just relies on his pace to be effective in games and is only left footed
or welsh caps.No Fixed Abode wrote:Lets just see how Bale's career goes first. He could just be a 5 minute wonder.
Lets revisit this when he has as many medals as Giggsy.

Why bother with the skills if you can knock it and run past people?georgerob wrote:Bale is good but just relies on his pace to be effective in games and is only left footed

I'm more worried about what England will be doing at the other end. I suppose if Ramsey,Bellamy and Collison are all fit and Bale is still playing really well Wales will have a chance but still think they will lose both games. The whole year inn wrote:England have two games against Wales in the near future
Will be interesting to see what Bale does to GLOLen Johnson
But Giggs did become consistently the best winger in the league by the same age and did the same to Premiership teams week in week out. I'm sure he did a pretty good job in Europe as well, you know, helping them win the thing for starters.FiNeRaIn wrote:Don't remember ever seeing ryan giggs giving two absolute poundings to the european champions both home and away like bale has done.Hoop Blah wrote:Giggs took a while to refine his decision making and final delivery (as do all wingers) but I'd say he was even quicker and more skillful than Bale currently.
