Being thick however, is not one of them.

Being intelligent academically and being intelligent in a certain area (i.e sport) are 2 quite different things. Rooney being a great example.

And actually, given that he's managed to make a pretty decent career for himself out of football, I'd suggest Lampard is pretty intelligent in footballing terms.
