Some fans had a vote and the numbers voting for each was never declared. 'Ashes' just illustrates the problem of favouring democracy! We end up with something that isn't ours and certainly isn't an anthem! The Royals Anthem will live on long after Ashes has become just that!WAZZOCK wrote:Tbf, the fans had the choice and chose Ashes. Not much else to say really.
Will never, ever, happen.Royal Lady wrote:Excellent news - now all sing it together on Saturday and it will become our anthem.
Fans were given an opportunity to vote. They did. Their choice was picked. People need to get the oxf*rd over it.RoyalBlue wrote:Some fans had a vote and the numbers voting for each was never declared. 'Ashes' just illustrates the problem of favouring democracy! On the other hand, if they keep playing The Royals Anthem loudly during every half-time.................
+1 - sounded brilliant from my seat m8.Pepe the Horseman wrote:Everyone in Y23 was stood up, belting it out. Was glorious.
without wishing to sound like a grumpy old person, and bearing in mind that I've worked in music venues, did you not think that it was excessively ear-splittingly loud?kwik-silva wrote:I was enjoying Morning Glory though
dear public address system man, when choosing what music to play very loudly before a football game, please note that the first minute or so of Morning Glory just sounds like your PA system has broken and is screeching loads of ear piercing feedback at everyone.kwik-silva wrote:I was enjoying Morning Glory though
the opening guitar is perfectkwik-silva wrote:I was enjoying Morning Glory though
Ashes - Embrace won the vote. Gets played just before kick off, no one sings or even remotely acknowledges it really.Stuka wrote:it was a simple question

Bring back Sweet Caroline imo.
Agreed. It's a good song and I enjoy it in the pre match playlist but just doesnt provide that atmosphere you'd hope for in an 'anthem'.Stuka wrote:GH Royal wrote:[

Yeah I was for Sweet Caroline. Probably the reason why I didn't realise we even had an anthem is because Ashes- Embrace is a completely forgettable.
Not sure what you mean with that one, see 'You'll never walk alone' & 'Forever blowing bubbles' an anthem is for the club/team - not the players or opponents.Stuka wrote:Also ideally with an "anthem" you need to be able to readily adopt the lyrics to sing the praises of a favoured player, or mock an opponent.
