Partly right - although just about all clubs' have the policy not to try and arrest individuals from acrowd unless absolutley necessary, I think the reason this has been done in this way is because of the number of complaints received by Hampshire police after the match was over, and the way the media latched onto the story.royalexile wrote:If these supporters were under police observation during the match - why we they not pulled out and dealt with away from the main support and dealt with accordingly. Clearly it seems that IF this group of supporters were causing offence then the police and stewarding on the day need to be reviewed. Seems to me a fear factor involved in shoeing people out of a crowd.
Yeah, cos Hampshire Police really give two shits about what happens on the MET’s patchDirk Gently wrote:and I also think it may be a message to Spurs fans in the week before Berbatov meets them again.
Do you really think the Home Office and DCMS aren't involved in this, or that the Football Policing Units at the various forces don't talk to each other?TheMaraudingDog wrote:Yeah, cos Hampshire Police really give two shits about what happens on the MET’s patchDirk Gently wrote:and I also think it may be a message to Spurs fans in the week before Berbatov meets them again.
Yes, they talk to each other. Before games they’ll discuss how many away fans are expected, how many trouble makers, what are their plans, do you have any intelligence on them, what is the best way to prevent trouble?Dirk Gently wrote:

As well as the routine, pre-match conversations at a force-to-force level, forces also get guidance (i.e. leant upon) from above as to what they should be seen to be doing and when they should be doing it for maximum effect.TheMaraudingDog wrote:Yes, they talk to each other. In this instance, half of Portsmouth have grassed up to the police so they have no other option but to launch an enquiry and on route pick up a few easy token arrests to help boost their stats. It has nothing to do with Spurs playing United tomorrow the timing is just a coincidence and do you really think that a handful of arrests will mean that when Pompey play at WHL later in the season Sol will get no grief from the Spurs fans?
As usual, Arsenal > Spurs in every department. Even humurous homophobia:Dirk Gently wrote:The chant is below :
