Brit-watch.

Two assists for Antony Gordon on his competitive debut for Barcelona as they thrashed Elche 5-0.

Trent finds himself behind a third right-back at Real Madrid. Denzel Dumfries a new signing and started ahead of him in Real's 2-1 win at Espanyol. Some (probably silly) rumours of a late Liverpool loan bid. They certainly need a right-back.

Champions Inter straight to the top of the Serie A table with a 4-1 win over Monza. John Stones came on as a late sub, the only one of their trio of English signings to make an appearance. If Stones wants to be first-choice he's going to have to get past Manuel Akanji, a former teammate at City.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek started for Milan in their win at Torino, and Scott McTominay took his usual spot in Napoli's midfield, they started with a 2-0 win at Genoa.

CJ Egan-Riley, England U21s and former City and Burnley defender is now first choice at Marseille, and they top the early Ligue 1 table. Lens are in second spot, they thrashed Auxerre 5-2, for whom Danny Namaso (Loader) scored for the first time since a permanent move from Porto. Namaso still only 25 years old.

Time was when very few of our players left to play elsewhere in Europe but now there are plenty.

I saw an article on Fenerbahce where within their squad they could field a full eleven with players who have at some played in our Premier League.

Starting left-back at Fenerbahce is Archie Brown, a 23 year old Englishman who never played a game in the country of his birth. Left Derby's academy and arrived at the club via Switzerland and Belgium. The squad is a bit of a who's who of once very good PL players - Kante, Lukaku, Ederson, Semedo, Ake, Guendouzi. They've got former Real midfielder Asensio too.

Talking of Turkey, Mo Salah got his first two league goals for Trabzonspor at the weekend.

The annual fun that is the DFB Pokal opening round was played over the weekend. Unlike the FA Cup, the big clubs tend to put their full strength sides out v the minnows as it is played as the opening game of the season.

No 1. Bundesliga sides beaten this year, although Schalke needed extra time to beat 3rd Tier Halle but a couple of smaller shocks.

Heidenheim, who were relegated from the 1. Bundesliga last season lost 5-2 at 4th Tier Jeddeloh whilst 3. division RW Essen beat St Pauli.

Some notable thrashings included:

Tönis 0-11 Eintracht Frankfurt (a week after Eintracht lost their last friendly 7-0 to Brentford - it was 10-0 at half time)
Krieschow 0 - 9 Mainz
Hemelingen 1 - 9 Hannover 96

Few other 5 or 6 goals wins.

The Tönis-Eintracht game was also marked by a nice moment - the Tönis club captain retired in the summer having played at the club since childhood. However, the club registered him as a player, named him as a sub and he played the last 5 mins of the game as a farewell.

What a result that is. They were in the fourth tier just five seasons ago, and most of their history is non-league football. Town has a population of 13,000, about the same as Tilehurst.

Harry Kane will look for his first goals of the season tonight - strong Bayern line-up with Kane, Olise and Diaz up front for Bayern for a cup trip to second tier Osnabruck.
