Can I just say that this must be one of the least edifying threads in the history of HNA? Shameful that it should take place in a public forum.

Some of the contributors need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Schards is a little ring weary this morning but the bout will commence after elevenses. The Maidenhead based battler (who celebrates his 40th birthday today) is so far ahead on points that the knock out blow is surely going to arrive today. The only thing that can stop him now is the appearance of South Oxons finest.

I'm not really bothered continuing this thread as the argument's already been won.

Last year we sold all the home tickets for all games, this year we haven't.

The only thing left to debate of the extent.

Do you only drive your car when it's 100% full to capacity?

Why do you have to sell EVERY seat for EVERY game in order to expand? I think it's reasonable to expand as long as the ground is full for 90% of games which it will be as long as the club remains in the Premiership.

We got 23,563 against Liverpool, but then again Liverpool bought 4,000 and the club had to put member cards onsale free of charge

But for me expanding to 30,000 intially is a must. It means away fans can get 3,000 not 2,000 which will mean the majority of sides should sell out with ease, it gives more hospitality seats and allows flexibility in pricing structure.

That's a different argument to whether demand has fallen this season - it has, it's done.

As for the expansion, for the 1,000,000,000,000,000th time, I would leave a decision on that to the end of the season.

Well the extent is easy to work out, just needs a bit of initiative.

FYI, I got the numbers from the club for away fan attendances this season. Working on an away allocation of 2260 (which is what the club told me was the usual allocation) and a stadium capacity of 24200, gives a total home allocation of 21940. Of this, for the five home games so far we have had the following numbers in the home stands:

Chelsea - 21818 (99.4%)
Everton - 20643 (94.1%)
West Ham - 21284 (97.0%)
Wigan - 20808 (94.8%)
Derby - 21765 (99.2%)

(When I get home and have access to a programme from last year I'll try and do the numbers for that season.)

Average attendance over those five games is 96.9% of home capacity. The most impressive for me is the Derby game which, despite all the problems with its timing that have been noted before on this thread, still managed to have just 175 seats free in the home stands, just 53 more than missed the Chelsea game.

I'd have to say that any business that was achieving an average (near as makes no difference) of 97% capacity and didn't look to expand had it's head stuck firmly in the sand.
