That's always been the case hasn't it? Seem to remember Souness saying when he went to Galatasaray he had meetings with each player and when he asked their favoured position half the squad said No 10.

Getting to squeaky time now, just over two weeks left of the window window and, as much as anything, presumably the management have an eye or two on players still with clubs that they think may become available as late deals start being completed. Presuming we just need that first domino to fall somewhere and hopefully we can land that striker we need (hopefully one with a decent strike rate somewhere).

Despite his size, Kelvin was never an aerial threat.

Jamie Vardy is a free agent and must be worth a punt.

There was a rumour earlier in the window that Leicester were going to bring him back.

Can see that being £25k a week at least. For a player who will do what Ronaldo did at the World Cup. What Rooney described as world class standing still.

Vardy c2026 would be a Dai-era type signing. Avoid.

What about Andy Carroll? cant think why we let him go? He'll be a serious aerial threat.

Personally don’t understand why we didn’t move for Josh Magennis esp. as he was on a free.

Could be the reason we did not sign him is because he has signed for Stevenage!. Keep up.

He turns 36 tomorrow. Plus he's scored 13 goals in 2 seasons for Exeter.

When Richardson and Couhig talk about signings to improve the team instead of just adding bodies, this is exactly the sort of signing they're talking about avoiding.

Makes sense, really didn’t know he was that old! I’ll just look forward to him inevitably bagging winners for Stevenage whenever we play them.

I think yesterday illustrated how painfully short we are in certain positions, we actually two CBs, a LB and someone to take the weight off of Jacks shoulders, September 1st is creeping ever closer.
That second half was torture.

Before yesterday, I'd have said we need more depth at CB, but I was wrong. We actually need a better CB than we currently have and O'Connor and Ward fighting to play alongside them.

After watching the game yesterday I wish Paudie had retired instead of Williams. We desperately need a new CB and Dorsett is not L1 standard. I am thinking Dan Scarr possibly, but again he’s probably too slow.

Upfront we could do worse than Jerry Yates, but I feel we still lack a big target man. The biggest issue for me is a CM who can calm everyone the fcuk down when it gets squeaky bum time. A league one version of Rodri would do nicely.
