depends which figures you use, they wont tell and rightly so, but I bet a lot that did not renew were first timers, rather than those that had had ST's for 4 years or more. Bearing in mind we had 8000 new ST holders I would have expected that to be the case.

In past years the churn is always approximately 10% - as people die, move away, get married, have kids, fall out of love with football etc etc.

It's just that 10% of 18,500 is a lot more than 10% of 8,000.

And we still sold 18,000 plus season ticket holders, so whatever the churn was those leaving were replaced.

Just to add an insight after talking to RFC management about how to let people know that, as we are not selling out well before the games this season, those who want to come and assume they will never get a seat should actually try to get one. In that context it was made plain that any extension will allow more flexibility both in pricing and marketing and essentially, from my point of view, give the room to allow people to bring friends along.

Whilst it is possible to move your seat as a season ticket holder to bring friends to a game, many do not do it (I know I certainly do not bring friends anything like as often as I did before 2005/6) but with a larger East Stand that would be easier. The decision is not yet made about when to extend

I'd have thought it would be a massive dereliction of their duty if the board weren't considering all the possibilities..
To blithely commit to an significant investment in expansion without going through all the 'what if's' would be absolutely stupid.
They must have at least a plan A, B and C !

Said it before, and I'll say it again. If anyone seriously believes that JM went into this without a strong business case being put forward by his CE (Nigel Howe) they are wrong. There is no doubt that the options have been well considered. Strangely they probably didn't look at HNA to see if the fans agreed with the well thought through business case!

Agreed, they need business advice from here about as much as they need football advice !

Unless my ears were deceiving me, in the interview broadcast by BBRB last night, JM said that whilst they now had planning permission for the stadium expansion, he didn't expect that work to take place in his time at the club.

So either he really reckons he's going to find a buyer for the club in the next 1-2 years or the expansion plans are already on hold.

Spoke to someone at the club just a few days ago and the line was that the plans for expansion are very much going ahead but are subject to the sort of checks that have been discussed on here before. If the chance of Premiership football next season diminishes so would the chances of the expansion at this time.
