24024 - another appallingly low attendance last night. How anyone can doubt the assertion that demand is dropping when there were 176 seats not taken up is beyond me.

Unless my ears were deceiving me, in the interview broadcast by BBRB last night, JM said that whilst they now had planning permission for the stadium expansion, he didn't expect that work to take place in his time at the club.

So either he really reckons he's going to find a buyer for the club in the next 1-2 years or the expansion plans are already on hold.

He's not stupid.

As has been said earlier, he doesn't need business advice from posters on here.

Said it before, and I'll say it again. If anyone seriously believes that JM went into this without a strong business case being put forward by his CE (Nigel Howe) they are wrong. There is no doubt that the options have been well considered. Strangely they probably didn't look at HNA to see if the fans agreed with the well thought through business case!

Agreed, they need business advice from here about as much as they need football advice !

You can LOL all you like, but five out of seven league games so far this season have been near-as-makes-no-difference home-stand sellouts. The only ones that haven't have been Everton and Wigan, and even they had 94% of the home stands filled.

I'm sure the chairman is loving those figures - they're certainly not going to be any kind of disincentive for anyone who wants to come in and take over the club, which is what he seems to be seriously looking at now.

To repeat the stats I posted earlier in the thread, these are the home stand figures and percentages for the first five league games of the season:

Chelsea - 21818 (99.4%)
Everton - 20643 (94.1%)
West Ham - 21284 (97.0%)
Wigan - 20808 (94.8%)
Derby - 21765 (99.2%)

I don't have the numbers for the Newcastle and Arsenal games to hand, but lets assume that all the empty seats at both games were in the home stands. This gives the following numbers for these games:

Newcastle - 21859 (99.6%)
Arsenal - 21764 (99.2%)

OK, admittedly I was getting to the fringes of the BBRB transmission area when they broadcast the interview with JM but I'm sure I heard him refer to our current capacity as being 24,700.

When each seat brings such a good level of income I'm surprised if he got that one wrong!

Capacity currently is 24,154

I don't think it has ever been 24,700. Most records give it as 24,000 and is has varied a little with changes to segregation, but not by much

According to this page on the official site, the capacity is actually 24161. The figure that is normally used (and that I used in my calcs) is 24200.

Interestingly that page also lists the 'normal away allocation' as 2327, which is 67 higher than the figure of 2260 that Andy West gave me and that I've been using for my calculations above.

The capacity is the figure I quoted. I won't go into details of why - but believe me that is the number !!

The away capacity is 2320

In my previous post I had meant to say the 'usual' figure is 24,200 but mistyped. So we agree on that one !!

I have a copy of the plans for the stadium as built (for planning the raise the hoops) and can confirm that before the seats were taken out/moved for the changes in segregation that the capacity was 24244

add to that if you will trainers 20!

So when using a capacity calculation you also need to remember that the wheelchair spaces are not available for others to use!

I'll try and breakdown the numbers but I'm fairly sure the wheelchair capacity is now lower (no wheelchair space in the SW corner) and the press figures higher (although I'm not sure they should be included in the capacity should they ?)
