Linfield suggesting if they qualify (playing a team from San Marino, so should) then game would be on the 11th with a 5pm or 5.30pm kick off.BR0B0T wrote:could be Celtic playing in Linfield on the 11/12thAthleticoSpizz wrote:home, away or both?

Only got to look at how much winning a Championship medal meant to Harte and Roberts imo.URZZZZ wrote:Always struggle to understand why an ambitious footballer would bother joining Celtic
Exact same thing every single season
It’s nice to win medals, of course, but in the case of Celtic, certainly more so in the last few years, it’s what’s expected of them, effectively it’s just routine. There’s no particular rivals to stop them, although with Rangers back in resurgence, it may make the SPL a bit closer in the near futureSnowflake Royal wrote:Only got to look at how much winning a Championship medal meant to Harte and Roberts imo.URZZZZ wrote:Always struggle to understand why an ambitious footballer would bother joining Celtic

Winners medals mean a lot and can never be taken away. Finish 12th in a good top flight regularly, or win the SPL regularly?
Plus the money is decent.
Exactly why FL division 2 (forget the stupid fancy names, it is the second division) is the best league in the world. A good two thirds of the division, if not more, more than capable of beating each other while in the division 1 you generally get a 4/5 team snooze fest with Sky eventually bigging up a battle for 4th/5th place. Top divisions across Europe, and probably farther afield, largely have the same 2/3/4 team domination season after season after season, trouble is it doesn’t stop most of us on here wanting Reading to be part of that “division 1 snooze fest”.URZZZZ wrote:
Simply put, I wouldn’t call winning the title a particular achievement as it’s so common for Celtic to win it. Compare that to your example of Harte and Roberts for us where you have 24 equal ish ability sides, especially when you consider where we were halfway through the season

I guess the playing side of it is probably easier but you'd have to put up with the local sports media shoving a microscope up your arse 24/7.
I remember reading in the Secret Footballer that a lot of players, especially those who move up from England, find it a bit of a poisoned chalice. You can be anonymous in English cities, if you lose a game for one of the Old Firm, every fcuker in Glasgow wants to remind you how shit you are. Can't be fun being called a useless, money grabbing pcunt by strangers whilst picking the kids up from school.
Agreed although I’d argue the French, Dutch and Scottish leagues are the worst in that contextSutekh wrote:Exactly why FL division 2 (forget the stupid fancy names, it is the second division) is the best league in the world.
