Keep up. All the evidence is that Southampton management is not happy about losing all these players. They are all seeking release from the club because they want to go somewhere more likely to give them European football. This isn't a fire sale in the normal sense, it is players exercising their desire to go.

Either way, however, it is not good for Southampton as a club that is losing its best assets is hardly a strong attraction to the quality of player they need as replacements.

There is a message out there for us but it isn't fear of a fire sale (not in this instance).

I don't recall seeing that he was the majority shareholder anywhere? I do, however, recall this being described as a consortium right from the outset.

Anyway, does it matter that things have changed? Surely the important thing is hat they get the deal done and start to get real prep for this season underway.

As to the combined wealth of this consortium, the key is surely whether they are worth at least as much as John M was at his peak; we managed quite well then.

The Thai tycoon was due to take a majority stake in the club after his Asian consortium signed the sale and purchase agreement on a £25 million deal on Thursday, July 17.

But the set up of the consortium has now changed with a new sale and purchase agreement having been signed last week. It is now believed to include Bunditkitsada, Thai businesswoman Sasima Srivikorn and two as yet unnamed figures.

Southampton, did well, the big clubs dont like that idea, so buying the players could mean they struggle, or even go down. They have done the same to Newcastle for a few years, and to a lesser extent Everton.

Buy RFC for £20mill, sell the few decent assets we have for about £15m, and there is potential profit there.

Not really, my reading of that was always that he was leading a bid to take a majority stake in the club on behalf of a consortium, it is ambiguous, I would accept. The way it is phrased there just looks like lazy journalese to me though.
