Good for you m8Mr.Swainey wrote:I still maintain that all of these people are shafters, taking over from another bunch of shafters, and that the club is only heading one way.... downwards.
I'll be at Holloways Park if you need me.
Yep. The chances of these lot being genuine is very slim indeed. Phoenix would be worse though as they were more interested in the land. Absolutely no excitement about any of this at all any more. Just expecting the worst. Football has gone to shit, and now we've joined the list of clubs exposed to these crooks.Mr.Swainey wrote:I still maintain that all of these people are shafters, taking over from another bunch of shafters, and that the club is only heading one way.... downwards.
That's a bit harsh.SPARTA wrote:Yep. The chances of these lot being genuine is very slim indeed. Phoenix would be worse though as they were more interested in the land. Agreed. At the very least it's a temporary stay of execution, but it's not very often you see a new owner, or in this case a group, take over a club for the love of the game. It'll be interesting where we are on and off the field in 24 months. Hopefully they'll be good for the club.Schards#2 wrote:That's a bit harsh.SPARTA wrote:Yep. I think they deserve the rights to be judged on their merits. In the meantime, they are at least (hopefully) rescuing us from limbo
Exactly. Some ridiculous scaremongering going on, and the fact we've chosen this group to go with when there has been plenty of other interest is quite telling imo.Schards#2 wrote:That's a bit harsh.SPARTA wrote:Yep. 29 Jul 2014 17:44It's also what the article says. There's just been a slight change to who's in it. Possibly more people, possibly different people. The front man is still the same. The deal is still agreed.Tilehurstsouthbank wrote:melonhead wrote:has clearly been a consortium from the very beginning.Extended-Phenotype wrote:![]()
Yeah, everyone was waiting excitedly to hear Bundy couldn't afford us on his own and that SJM has opted to carve the club up between him, an old woman and two anonymous parties.
Hooray.
That was my understanding too.
It's a massive deal unless they leverage the payment to clear the debts back onto the club, meaning we still owe the money, just to them now. Although that's not exactly a terrible state of affairs.winchester_royal wrote:The important thing is not to get another owner like Anton who is too ambitious and pushes the club into places where it could not afford to be, hence leaving us with a financial shit storm when his money stopped coming in.
From what we've been told, this buyout will be clearing the club's debts...which is actually a massive deal, especially when you consider that we still have another 3 years of parachute payments to give us a decent financial advantage over most of the league.
Just FYI. SJM didn't buy us for love of the game.SPARTA wrote:Yep. The chances of these lot being genuine is very slim indeed. Phoenix would be worse though as they were more interested in the land. No, but he was a special case in that he loved this town and wanted to give something back; and he did.Ian Royal wrote:Just FYI. SJM didn't buy us for love of the game.SPARTA wrote:Yep. Don't go then....Mr.Swainey wrote:Supporting Reading has become very tedious nowadays. Going to the Madejski is a dull, warmless experience, watching 30 grand a week Pogrebynak miss from 5 yards out epitomises the great fall this club has taken - you didn't really care if Martin Butler or Carl Asaba missed a sitter or two, but we're actually paying our Russian striker a hefty wage to contribute relatively little. All of this for £25 quid a time, which goes towards paying for seemingly endless debts, does make you wonder whether the current incarnation of the club is worthwhile.
I like the cut of your jib.Martin41 wrote:Some people won't be happy unless we are owned by the richest man in the world!!! And even then they could still screw us over.
And even then would probably find something they don't like.
Jesus, these people have not been unveiled yet, and already some of you are convinced they are crooks, and it's all going to end in tears!!!
And remember sjm is not prepared to fund us anymore, so we need to have someone else.
I don't know any people on this forum, but I'm convinced lots and lots are clueless idiots.........I must be right as some of you have made assumptions of people you don't know.....that's how it works right?
Well I'm prepared to give them a chance, and let's see.......... You might be surprised!!!! Roll on the start of the season!!
