Does the thread title not irritate anyone else?

It should either be "Should Reading change their crest..." or "Should we change our club crest..."

I took it to be a deliberate snipe at the disconnect between the management of the club and the community of the fans.

ie there's a feeling that "we", as the fans, own the crest (or at least feel we do through sentimental attachment) - but of course Reading Football Club plc call the shots regardless of what the fans think.

I confess,it was one of 4 designs I sent in to JM, in response to a call for fans to send in designs. Boyd Butler then forwarded it to an agency as it was hand drawn. They tweeked it,swapping the lion and the crown round.

What were the other three?

Is your avatar also one of your designs? Feel like I know it from somewhere - but a google image search only reveals a political Australian twitter account (@Sinraxx)

Actually I may be thinking of this

Agree.

Always a joy to get the Coventry ‘shiney’ when opening a pack of football stickers in my youth

I remember being overjoyed when I finally got Dave Beasant in ProSet cards.

Not sure why this sticks in the memory tbh, I'm sure a psychologist would have a field day.

I remember back in the days just before Panini, FKS used to be the main provider for football card collections (3p for a packet of 7 cards you used to have to glue into the album yourself). Always seemed to get Alan Birchenall of Leicester or Arsenal’s Sammy Nelson, depending on the year. Also remember one packet I opened, 7 cards of which 4 were Ian Ross of Aston Villa.

I like our current badge/crest. I think it's pretty distinctive.

rather than change the logo for everyone, why not just visit specsavers?

I'm up for multiple different crests, Our historic ones for example are as part of our identity as the current one but I see no reason to make a change now. Yes by all means tweak it as has been the case since we first moved to this design but do we really need to mess with our identity? - we're hanging onto it by a thread as it is with all the chopping and changing at the club and think how much it will cost to change all the logos on the stadium and everywhere else - money the club can not afford to waste right now.

At what point is your lawyer going to put in a claim for royalties?

The thought had passed my mind, especially when the Russian bandit was in charge. I have since found out that it has been registered by the club.
Being a long suffering fan, I think they need all the money they can get right now.
