You would be astounded to know how much money they make per annum on that phone number as well. Let's just say that last season it paid for Kevin Doyle and that is after they have paid their money to the various agencies for using that number

I am suprised that no one has commented on the the Man U game. Only 41 points for none season ticket holders! My guess is the site crashes at 20:00 on Thursday

There are so few tickets available to non ST holders (by my reckoning a couple of hundred maximum) that it's hardly worth setting up bands for those few.

But will the OS take the effort to publish something along the lines of 'ST take up is such that only 500 (or whatever it is) tickets available.'

That would be true if the club didn't give out ridiculous amounts of points for things other than attending games.

STAR membership and dishing out Bring It On signs? I'm not entirely sure that amounts to ridiculous amounts of points does it?

For attending a non-competitive game out of season, in the middle of summer; when there are so many other leisure activities that would take precedent given that most fans will be attending competitive fixtures for the next 9 months.

Yeah it was, but it was totally disproportionate to the rest of the points allocations.

The club use it as a marketing ploy, not as a means of fairly allocating tickets to the fans. Now I'm not stupid enough to think it was ever really going to be anything else, but I do think it should be used more intelligently by the club when selling tickets on a points basis as thats what they said it was for when they set the thing up.

I also agree that STAR should be pressurising the club to use the points in way aimed more at rewarding their loyal fans. I'm glad to see from this thread that they seem to be trying, even if it is with no end result, so far!

Bearing in mind the season ticket price increase that Feyenoord game should of been free to season ticket holders. This would of guaranteed a much bigger crowd. But the club as usual can only see pound signs.

I've been a season ticket holder for years and years and really wanted to go to Arsenal. However I haven't been able to afford all the away games this year, so even though I'm gutted, I fully back the loyalty points system (apart from the Feyenoord game conn).

so the 20 points people got from the Feynoord game moved some people from 581 to 601 so they got an arsenal ticket. So the fans that could be bothered to turn up for a meaningless pre season friendly at home get rewarded when this was enough to make a difference.

And the ones that couldn't be arsenaled stayed on 581 points and didn't get the chance to get a ticket

Its not like they got 600 points for that one game and it made all the difference, people never having been to a game in 3 years getting a ticket.

Lets face it, people with 600+ points that got a ticket have been to a load of games, home and away

The key point is that we, as a small club, had to guarantee Feyenoord a certain amount of dosh before they'd agree to play us in a prestige friendly. That's why they had to ensure a certain uptake of tickets for this match.

Next year, as a big club, it'll be the smaller clubs who'll be paying us guaranteed sums before we agree to play them in a prestige friendly.

No but they still chose to buy a ticket. Once they've done that then it's simply that persons choice whether to go or not - the club still have the ticket money.

I know - but I'm just pointing out that there were an awful lot of people that got 20 points not because of some great loyalty they had that made them sit through a pointless pre-season friendly, but simply because they had the cash to spare.

It still means that going to a pre-season friendly equates to more 'loyalty' in the eyes of the club than however many league games it takes to gain the same number of points.

Thats not rewarding loyalty and it's where the system falls down.

The way the club then set the boundaries for selling tickets is whole seperate problem which I think they've stuffed up again for the Arsenal game.
