It looks like the T/O will be processing about 6000 transactions per game if we make 12000 ST holders, so divide the 9000 free seats and it will add about 1000 transactions, though those seats will then be sold, so a full sale transaction might be lost, so not that many more transactions at all really.

Just went on the official site and the intro page was announcing season ticket prices for next season were frozen for 2008/09 season ticket holders if they renew by 26th June. Went into the site to read details but there was no story on there. Went back to intro page and they had changed it back to Megastore deals!

I do not regularly and proudly slate off the quality and price of everything in the megastore. On occasions there have been some well made and good value products in the Megastore. In fact, on numerous occasions I have sung the praises of the Mizuno merchandise that they used to sell. But thereagain, acknowledging that wouldn't suit your argument would it!

Nor was I advocating a Megstore voucher as my 'dream freebie'. I actually expressed the view that it would be a popular freebie with many supporters, wouldn't cost the club a fortune and could indeed lead to increased sales. However,I guess you would have to be able to extricate your head out of the club's rear passage in order to be able to read that.

The play off semi was against Burnley, the game against Newcastle will be a bigger draw. It is slightly weird to think that will happen, but I assure you, it will sell out. Even if it's a wet Tuesday night in November. But no call to expand just for this one old boy

And of course you ignore the context of the remark, given that there will be a minimum of 2400 and more likely 4000 Geordies maybe 12,000 STH and 9000 'mates' the scope for reachinggeneral sale is all but nil for this game.

When there's 24,000 capacity, 20,000 isn't great demand.

Demand isn't a factor of capacity though. 20,000 is a pretty high demand although of course we could have coped with higher.

This game may sell out, it may even sell out before general sale but I would suggest that the likelyhood is less than 50/50 - hardly unthinkable.

I doubt we will have much more than 10,000 season ticket holders and, if the game falls after xmas, there will be no "friends" tickets. Furthermore, if Newcastle are mid table I would doubt there would be 4,000 geordies.

Whilst not wishing to appear to be putting a tent up in Shards camp, I don't think very many games even in our Premier League seasons actually DIDN'T make general sale. I have a feeling that our last time there the stat was something like only Arsenal's and Liverpool's games were sold out before going on general sale. This is not to say that they were the only games that sold out, and I do believe that the Newcastle game will be 23k+

The reason I have no idea when a game last sold out before general sale is because being a STH I really don't take any interest in stuff like that, I'm sure someone will know the answer.
Who knows what the scenario may be - we could play them in early October with both clubs having won every game so far and leading the division by a dozen points....It will also probably be by far the biggest single game of the season and the one large numbers of people will target as their 'must do' game.
The point remains the same though, a number of people said they wouldn;t bother with a ST this season because they'd be able to get a ticket easily for any game they want. There is a simple scenario which means that may be a bit tricky for possibly the biggest game of the season....
