Going to put out there that I am somewhat unconvinced by De Jong. Looks technically great, but has been criticised in Spain for being physically weak and getting muscled off the ball a lot.

He certainly hasn't impressed me that much when I have seen him. He is what I would refer to as a typical Eredivisie player, looks great against FC Groningen but is quickly found out at the top level.

What I find interesting about football in this area is the nature of the support base.
It is a town where a lot of people have moved to from other parts of the country, often because it was a place that they came to on holiday as youngsters and ended up moving through work or retirement to in and around the town.

My two immediate neighbours come from Nottingham and Warwickshire respectively, people opposite came from Lancashire and another is from Gloucester and is married to a French woman.
None of these go to football but there are many "immigrants" that do and as far as I can tell it is often just a case of watching live football and not having the inclination to travel to their old stamping ground at Sheffield (Wednesday) or Bradford in the case of two old boys who live up the road.

Probably because Reading is not that far I have never been tempted to have much more than a passing interest in AFCB's fortunes (I wish we could have had some of their Russian fortunes) especially as it is a club that so often has competed at the same level and possibly because I have always been football mad that the Reading connection has carried on and I haven't , as yet, stopped the regular pilgrimage.

I know nothing about Reading4eva and if he has swapped allegiance so be it but it is not something that I will ever do even if travelling becomes too difficult-they have been the enemy for far too long.

Think he's definitely got potential to do well in a better side and is an awkward player to deal with. Can play anywhere across the front 3, but being predominately left sided and down the middle so would be good competition for Son and Kane with Kulusevski on the other side.

Spurs seem to be developing Liverpool-esque issues though, very few players they would realistically sign would be able to start in front of either Son and Kane.

I wonder what is means for the futures of Bergwijn and Moura, surely it means one of, if not both, are headed for the door.

Think he will be decent for Spurs. He is a bit of an arsehole which is exactly what their squad needs, they are a bit too nice.

I can only see him getting in the way and disrupting the Son/Kane partnership. Hopefully I am wrong on that. He is quite hard working and plays on the wings when needed, so who knows.

I remember him being hyped as a teenager and going to Leipzig for £13. Now at just 25 years old he is onto his 5th permanent club, 9th including loans, and has scored only 18 goals in his whole career in all comps, and he is a forward!

City and Liverpool are so far ahead that I can't see anybody challenging them next season, but Spurs look well set for 3rd and reestablishing themselves in the Champions League in my view. But it will probably end in tears in 18 months or so when Conte realises how difficult overhauling the big 2 will be.
