Chelsea are currently within the FFP limits because of the long contracts they are offering. I think UEFA said they may change the ruling soon to stop clubs doing that

They've changed it so the maximum length of time you can amortise a contract for is 5 years, whereas Chelsea will be able to do it for the length of the contracts they've offered players for, so 7-8 in some cases.

In terms of outgoings, that sum of money is taken off the accounts at the time. So if Chelsea were to sell a player for £30m, that will come off their accounts as £30m as one lump sum.

The danger for Chelsea is, they won't be able to go rogue like they have this season in the next 5-8 years, because they will still have significant amounts coming off in those years for players. Essentially, the players they have now and who they are probably going to be sticking with for a number of years, they've put a lot of faith in their recruitment for the present and future.

Yep agree - although Chelsea will argue any business is risky business, which there is an element of truth to.

It just seems like they've thrown all their eggs in one basket here. They won't be able to do much business outside of this, without having to make significant profit on players they sell which will be difficult to do given the length of their contracts, especially if some players don't end up performing. But a lot of these signings are for now and the future and this is the squad that, by and large, a manager will be tasked with working with. It's open for change, but it's risky. If 3/4 don't work, it will cause issues. If they can get most of these players to perform, then they will do well. They haven't signed poor players, they've just gone about their business differently.

Looks like Liverpool's pursuit of Bellingham has ended in a whimper. Likely fee around £135m has put them off. And it's a lot of money. See how the summer plays out I guess - the guy idolises Gerrard and is best mates with Henderson, but looks like money will talk, again. So where does he go? Real? He won't play every week. PSG? Surely not. Chelsea? They've spent £100m on Enzo to do the same job. City? Please, not City. Maybe United, who with Liverpool are a side who need a Bellingham.

Maybe most likely now he stays at Dortmund another year - he certainly doesn't seem unhappy there.
