Obviously, Lawrenson is awful and ruins everything he touches but, notwithstanding him, the programme was a mess. The opening titles are far too contrived, Murray tried too hard to play the affable Chiles role and why play music over the managers interviews?

The flow of discussion between Murray, Dixon and Lawrenson was terribly clunky. They talked over each other, stalled and generally looked uncomfortable. Various silly segments thoughout (things we miss and contrived shoe-shine nonsence at Villa). Very, very poor indeed.

Still better than the Bhasin and Claridge car crash on The Football League Show though.

If I want shit football coverage, I'll watch ITV, but I really expect better from the BBC.

+2. An absolute shower of b@stards, english football journalists. Hounded Bobby Robson for almost the entirety of his time as England manager and now he is sanctified by the very same people. The self-importance of nobodies like Woolnough, Samuel, Holt, Dunn and Rob 'convicted thug' Shepherd is difficult to stomach, each with their own axe to grind and barely concealed agenda of course. F*ck 'em, nothing but contempt for them all. Such contempt is also very much extended to include the old-boys-network of back-slapping old pros on MOTD and SKY who offer absolutely nothing to my enjoyment of televised sport, as opposed to the enlightening, intelligent and humourous commentary provided by SKY's cricket team and the TMS chaps.

How about James Richardson, Barry Glendinning or Rafael Honigstein, are they part of this 'shower of bastards'? The Guardian's Football Weekly is the best football show I've seen or heard in this country, it's criminal that Richardson in particular gets continually overlooked for any presenting job.

By far the most objective, comprehensive and entertaining football programme around (even if it does tend to overlook and patronize the football league)

Or does he. I'm not convinced he's trying to get the bigger BBC/ITV/Sky jobs. Seems much happier picking and choosing his jobs and being able to have more say on what he's doing rather than having to tow the party line like he would on one of the main channels. I'd miss him on Eurosport's cycling coverge if he had to pack that in.

I am sure that there are some responsilbe and principled bankers in the city, doesn't mean that that industry isn't run by a 'shower of bastards' too.
