May be naive on my part but I'm with you there. Admittedly my experience with ladies of the night is pretty limited (i.e none), but I always assume them to be either a) rough skag heads or b) Russian or Thai imports.

Thing is Wayne isn't the brightest and would probably be happily settled in a life of grime if he wasn't a professional footballer.

Perhaps the idea is that if she's a normal-type girl and if she's massively well-paid then she then won't go and blab to the papers.

Not defending Rooney here, but the timing of this by the NoTW can only be designed to destabalise England immediately before a hugely important qualifying game.

The original injunction was 3 or 4 weeks ago, so seems as though that may not be the case.

As much as it pains me to stick up of the NOTW, I imagine they knew about this during the WC and sat on it then. When Rooney underperformed, abused fans and started to get stick at Wembley, the editorial guys probably realised that he was now 'fair game' and so released the story.

The amount of people they have dirt on is just astonishing. They just wait to the right time to release it (normally when the person in question's star has fallen somewhat).

Interesting this has finally cropped up.

I was told this a few months ago and it was common knowledge amongst football players. I actually got this information second had from one of our own players.

What they did state though, was that Colleen knew all about it and allowed it to happen.
