Kebe to Bolton - 3.75 million

by paultheroyal » 02 Jun 2011 23:01

Source close to the club (been good before) tells me this is a done deal, way before the end of the season.

Good money, but too good to be true?

Why? Lose one of our best players, with likelihood that the majority, if not all, of the proceeds aren't re-invested?

Because income will be down next season, gates could fall a bit, and it would cover about a 1/3rd of the wages bill.

Why? Because we'll never get any 'more' for him than that. And besides, the 'proceeds aren't re-invested' line is getting dull now. We know how RFC works, it's no exactly new news.

I'd take that like a shot if I were the club.

As I've said elsewhere I still remain to be convinced by Kebe and we've come to rely on his inconsistent best as our main threat for causing teams problems. Whilst he's still here and an automatic pick who we seem to pin all our hopes on we will struggle to play a bit more 'football' and find the consistency to beat the top teams.

In the Premier League Kebe will be used differently so I could see a few teams bein interested in him but anything over £1.5m would be good business for the club.

Apart from (probably) not having as many cup games and the playoff matches, is income going to be down next year? Haven't parachute payments finished already?
Also, I would have though that attendances will be at least stable. We now kinda feel a bit more like we're on the up again after relegation.

Attendences will be dictated by what happens on the pitch.

We've grown our core support massively over the last few years but if we start the season as we've ended it (ie challenging for a top 4 spot) then crowds will be bigger than last season.

Conversely, if we fail to strengthen the side after all the departures we'll see this summer and then start badly and look like we're headng for a mid-table finish with results to match then I'd expect attendences to be where they were this season.

We should be near enough filling the ground for the majority of home games with concessioanry prices etc to attract casual fans.

I know the argument about this diddling sths but that means that more favours, particularly when it comes to tickets for big games, should be given to sths.

Hate to lose him, but it's a great price that would hopefully keep our losses to Jimmy and Long.

As much as we love Kebe, just imagine how Bolton fans will feel when they see him cross the ball. £3.75m?!

I'd bite their hand off at £3.75 mill. He clearly can run very fast and has got lots of skill but 50% of the time he doesn't have a final ball or infact a clue what to do with the ball. A classic example from the play off final was second half he was running their left back all over the shop and decided to cross the ball missing everyone out. The better option was a low ball across the front of the goal. Obviously this is a one off example but too many times he choses the wrong option or doesn't have any ideas for £3.75mill player.

don't know how good this 'source' is but i would definately take this!

let's face it, kebe will NEVER be the player he was for us in the new season all boils down to motivation and i can't see him having much of that!

Only issue is if it aint all ££££ upfront

Surely they don't need wingers? But either way I'm happy to see him go as long as we reinvest £1m-2m of the money back in the squad.

helps if your other team mates actually get in the box for the final ball or make themselves available for a pass not just stand there thinking about the weather

Take the money all day long...ridiculous fee for a player who found it impossible to cross a ball at Wembley. Yes he's got his pace, but Robson-Kanu's a much more complete package and will improve further.
