RUMOUR - Alexander Gerndt

by FiNeRaIn » 05 Jul 2011 13:50

I have not heard much about this guy at all, but I have received word that we are strongly interested in this swedish striker and that the club have been asking questions to his club helsinborg about his availability. I guess something must be about to Happen with Shane long.

Reliable source so quite intrigued to do some research on him when not busy.

Off the top of my head, he is best known for his pace, hardworking attitude, skill on set pieces and always showing good character.

Scoring a lot better than 1 in last season/this season
and some blank seasons (injury?) but his career average
is a goal every 184 minutes.

Looks like an interesting target but surely out of our price bracket? I can't see the club splurging £2.5m on a striker even if we do sell Long. (Well happy to be proven wrong though..... :D )

Depends on what Long goes for - if we did get the supposed £10m we want then £2.5m will be very doable.

and who's to say we would have to pay the £2.5m up front? as with mills we actually only paid about £1m with the rest based on promotion and other extras, so a similar deal wouldn't be out of the question.

Apparently £7.5m opening bid on verge from Bayern

I can see us spending £2.5m if Long goes for £7m+. We took Mills for what was reported as £2m. It's fairly rare for the fee not to involve installments and add ons these days, as far as I'm aware.

A fulham fan at work was pointing out what a wonderful record he has for Helsingborg not too long ago. 18/28 (includes pens) and this is in a relatively low-scoring league - he was top scorer in the Swedish top flight with 20 last season. Recently been called up for Sweden and scored after coming on as a sub against Moldova.

Sounds promising!

IR it was £800k .......the overall package could have added up to £2m but we never got to Prem so Mills never had the opportunity to qualify for Champs League , or to get fully recognised by Postman Pat for international caps :)

No chance of getting him!! Reading don't spend and we have no ambition.

I know youtube can make the worse player in the world look like the best, but he's better than our squad based on this video

Two years ago Mills signed in a £2m deal. It would have taken seven figures to get Kish in on loan, and a fair bit for Legs. How on earth do we not spend? Not to mention being one of the more competitive clubs in the league with wages.

So, he's composed at short range, he can shoot from distance, he's a set piece specialist, he can take penalties, he works hard and he's fast. Sounds like the perfect striker to me.

Yes, this is the point I was making. The Mills transfer was reported at £2m, but we payed significantly less than that. Why would that not be similar for this chap Finerain talks about. Most transfers involve installments and add ons and the figures quoted are usually the overall worth of the transfer.

His set pieces looked quality and varied. He didn't look weak or slow. Not a lot to show how comfortable he is with the ball at his feet, but importantly he seems calm and intelligent infront of goal with good and strong finishing.

Promising video clip, but always hard to judge.

This won't happen unless long goes, club were anticipating long going much sooner and had begun to look elsewhere including this lad, however as of yet no formal contact has been made and probably won't be unless we sell soon. Tabs are being kept on him, but nothings moving.
