i was surprised we didn't offer him a contract when he was here. i thought he did well and would have been suitable backup.

was more than good enough to be saints first choice before injury, and the purchase of the brilliant looking fox.
and he showed more than back up quality when he was here before.
(notwithstanding that we will need back up when harte goes in the summer/jan

had him on laon a few seasons back to cover armstrongs"injury"
always played well, slotted right in with no bother, couldnt see for the life of my why we didnt offer him a contract (contract demands im not privy to aside)

and i would think hed probably be ahead of mills (or at least push him harder than harte for his place) until joseph can get more experience, and has less pressure on him

Yes, but how does Joseph get more experience if he's been dropped and replaced by Harding?

I'd love him back but surely if it was feasible we would have got him instead of Mills in the first place?

i think hed benefit from not being the only real option we have at LB and being expected to play brilliantly in every game, and therefore stop him being subject to abuse from morons.

to be honestly dont think the 1st team is the right place to get experience in an ambitious championship club, unless you prove you are already pretty much ready suited at this level.

im not saying he should be dropped, i like him, think he will improve. but i think we need two, and i think hartes legs have totally gone, and harding is probably currently better than both so......

I think he'll improve by playing regularly at a good level in a competitive and settled defence personally. Certainly more so than not playing or being farmed out pointlessly on loan somewhere else.

He also clearly isn't the only option we have. Harte could definitely still play a role. And there's always Griff at right back and Cummings left.

You're forgetting young Joseph is the new scapegoat.

not by me, i like him, think hes played well in places, and ok in others, and quite willing to accept he wont be perfect in all areas, in every game

just think it would be nice to have a bit of competition there, especially once harte retires

He was poor at the start of the season, but I doubt he's just totally fallen apart in three months. And the whole defence was poor at that point. We can replace him at the end of the season.

Why is everyone beating off about fox? I don't get it. He wasn't good enough to make the grade at Celtic not so long ago and everyone on here calls that league " shite". He's played around the championship a fair bit and although he had a good game against us the other night...has looked distinctly average at best in all those years. One game does not a player make....even a handful of games.

He was one of Coventry's best players and was known for his dead ball skill. Small full backs don't score 6 goals a season unless they're quite good at set pieces (three times as good as Nicky Shorey and 75% of Ian Harte).

cos hes playing very well, and saints fans rave about him.
in thecontext of this thread, because no matter how good/not good he is, hes considered better than harding who now isnt getting a game where a 6 months ago he was
