Rumour - Adam Clayton

Mirror linking us with a £2 million move for Clayton

Reading are set to bid £2m for Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton who has been transfer-listed after failing to agree new terms at Elland Road.

Suppose he would be a good player to have would have no problem seeing him in a hoops shirt.

From what ive seen of him hes quite an energetic player that is good at winning the ball back for his side. One of these players who keeps the ball moving across the midfield too quite composed in what he does.

Good based on the performances I saw from him last year not that it was too many in all honesty.

No better than Ledge or Karacan and can't see how he'd fit in with Gylfi now being the fulcrum of the team.

Even if he wasn't a first team starter he would provide a reasonably good quality replacement if we needed someone to come on and get things going in the midfield. He is still quite young and will only get better as time goes on.

Worth remembering Karacan's injury and that there's no guarantee he'll come back the same player.

Gylfi would play behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1 so we still need at last one more defensive midfielder.

At the moment we only have three (Legs/Karacan and Tabb) whereas last year we had 5 including Mullins and Gunnar. Therefore, we need at least one more. Looks like we are not getting Sanchez - so Clayton looks a good option…….. young promising player and not too expensive.

This does seem like another Cut and Paste job of lazy journalism, anyone actually know if he is any good? Does not seem to have got the press such as Snodgrass.

Snodgrass more of a winger/attacker so might be a target if we don't get Gylfi but would unlikely to be if we do. Clayton more of a CM so this rumour "might" have some credence.

That was all that was mentioned when I found it on the Mirror.

He has got better and better during his time with Leeds and last year was certainly one of the players that was key to them especially once Howson left for Norwich.

Depending on who we bring in however I wouldn't say he was a player that would be starting every week for us.

A couple of my Leeds supporting friends rate him more highly than Snodgrass, Howson etc. Seems very similar to Jem in my eyes, can't say I've seen an awful lot of him though.

Would he be a 'Reading style' player coming from a Leeds team managed by Warnock? :|

Leigertwood (played for Palace, Sheff Utd and QPR all under him) and Armstrong (Sheff Utd) too. Jobi also played under him at Palace.

True! My view of Leeds players took a particular dip after Good Friday though tbh
