Sheffield Wednesday (A) FA CUP 4th Round

anyone know what is going on with this? Both Sheff Wed and Sheff Utd are at home in the 4th round and both ties are confirmed on the clubs websites as 3pm kick offs on the 27th. (Sheff Wed on their fixtures page, Sheff Utd are already selling tickets) RFC have confirmed the permutations too and would be a 3pm ko on the 27th, but surely both Sheffield clubs can't be home at the same time on the same day

BBC have the Sheff Wed Reading game as Friday 26th as an FYI, but don't book train tickets yet is my advice

Seems incredible that united are playing Preston. 60 miles away and Wednesday are playing us 160 miles away, so lets reschedule our game for a Friday night. you couldn't make it up.

Ridiculous. Why is Sunday always verboten?

Reading have been done over like this twice before when the fixture "computer" somehow managed to get both Sheffield clubs at home on the same day so Reading's Division 2 game with Wednesday got shunted to Friday night while Sheffield United kept their Divsion 3 game intact on the Saturday,

Same also happened with the Nottingham clubs and it somehow was deemed that Forest needed to move their Division 2 game with Reading to Friday night while County's Division 4 fare should obviously take precedent.

Perhaps it's because Reading have a pathetic level of support or something

This time I can at least understand it a little as Sheffield United's tie was known about as soon as the draw was made whereas this one wasn't confirmed until last night.

Any chance Wednesday fielded an ineligible player?

The fact that Sheffield Utd's game was confirmed without the need of a replay and thus weren't waiting for the outcome of 2 games to confirm the date and start selling tickets for their game?

I am looking at going, this will be my first time to Hillsborough, and I will be attending on my own. Do we tend to drink in the city centre beforehand or are there pubs near the ground?

There's some excellent pubs in the city or nearby. Kelham Island is a great spot for the ale connoisseur. If you get a tram all day pass you can rove around and do a crawl. I've found all the pubs to be away friendly though on a few visits, maybe steer clear of the social clubs - same as anywhere really.

I remember that United game. Was there. Lost 1-0 on Friday 13th February to a late winner scored by Lee Sandford who had been on loan to Reading earlier that season. The upside for me at the time was that it meant Valentine's day was unpolluted by having to travel to Sheffield.

Was there too. Parked down a side street, followed by some Blades firm members, went to seek solace in a boozer that was run by Billy Whitehurst and he told us to 'jog on lads' when we entered. Fookin Northerners.

I know a few Northern based Royals who are going, and for once it is fairly sensible pricing from SWFC (makes a change).

I believe you will find that our 'following' away to Halifax, midweek, for an FA Cup replay circa 1999 was pretty low !!!

I was there for that Halifax game ! It was freezing cold and pissing down . I know the crowd was less than 1000 all in I reckon we had about 30 there ...true fans ! We won 1-0 with a Caskey penalty , what a night !

Looks like the attendance was ~2,000 and Halifax missed a penalty in the last minute as well!
