Just eyeballing appearance stats, that don't hold up.

Half the games would be 23-26 games depending on what you count.

Players with =< 25 appearances - Marriott (25), Williams (D), O'Mahoney, Nyambe, Jacob, Williams (R), Roberts, Keane, Camara, Elliott, Garcia, Ahmed, Stickland, Stevens, Ward, Patton, Young, Ryan, Rushesha, Okine-Peters, Spencer, Rinomhota, and then a long tail of kids in the EFL trophy.

While that might look like a lot, you've got two players sent back early, another sold, several youngsters, and a good number brought in at January (so only had about half the games to play in).

That said, our January signings really did feel fragile - several spells out etc.

He is the statistical excuse guy after all. His dedication to playing a numbers game is second to none. Accountancy manager style, football by the numbers. It is probably his ability to produce volumes of hard data that makes him so attractive to senior management who are themselves data led.

Since day one, Richardson has consistently pointed to factors that needed to be addressed before he could be properly judged:

He needed transfer windows to improve the squad.
He needed improvements in the sports science department.
He needed a full pre-season with the players.

Since then, he has been backed in the transfer market and has been able to bring in players. something Hunt arguably wasn't afforded to the same extent. He has also overseen the appointment of a new Head of S&C and now has the benefit of a full pre-season programme.

With that context, the fact that two players have already picked up injuries, while another two or three were unavailable beforehand, is not an ideal start.

As many have suggested, the opening 5–10 league games are likely to be pivotal. The groundwork has been laid, the resources he asked for have largely been provided, and there are now fewer external factors to point to. Results and performances will ultimately determine how his tenure is judged from here & fans will give him zero room to breathe.

I’ve no doubts he exaggerated how many games players missed last year but it was undoubtedly a (maybe the?) problem last year. We have to improve it massively if we are going to get anywhere this season

Roberts and Williams both felt tightness in their legs during the game. Taken off as a precaution. Both expected to be in the group going to Alicante today for the week. Behind closed doors friendly v Getafe on Friday.

Stokes was omitted on Saturday simply because he’d only just signed. Absolutely no clue anywhere about how they’ve managed to break Malife or on what exactly Jeriel has done.

Marriott injury apparently to do with his back, doesn’t seem to be serious and he should be fit for Luton. Tentatively good news, though it doesn’t change the fact we are still very light up front.
