But remember when the owner took over and they did the kit reveal at the purple turtle with Brian Carey answer questions and things? Well there was this random American dude who got up on stage and was introduced as an author - Josh Lewin.
He was going to be documenting the club over the first year of couhigs ownership as he was fascinated about the story of dai ruining the club and couhig trying to bring it back. Well his book is now released - https://amzn.eu/d/01KTPhFC
I’ve just ordered mine and a few fans have already got their hands on a copy. Apparently it’s brilliant and gives a real behind the scenes look at what’s going on. Including transfer news ( players missed out on) Josh bowler for instance and a lot of players that got away.
Lots of other things like Leam apparently has had media training since the end of last season as he realised he was pissing the fans off with his sound bites.
Anyway thought I’d share it on here if anyone was interested in getting it. Mines arriving today - Looking forward to reading it
Drama, deadline days and a rollercoaster ride through the highs and lows of professional sport. With unprecedented access to the board room (and dressing room), Josh Lewin takes readers behind the scenes of English football on a warts-and-all journey into the heart of Reading FC and its new American ownership.
What does it really take to run a football club? And how does a new owner win over a rabid fanbase still feeling the bruises of the recent past? Especially when that owner is an American who unapologetically shoots from the hip... Rescuing the Royals is the remarkable inside story of a club on its way back from the brink and an all-access view of life outside of the Premier League bubble.
Detailing everything from recruitment and academy policy to the lives of the players, hopes of the fans and balancing of the books, this is an essential read for anybody with an interest in English football beyond the pristine, manufactured peak of the pyramid.
