can we either get someone another player to listen to or just do away with this feature altogether? Murty just moans and isn't funny while Peach doesn't care a jot about football (hadn't heard of Trappatoni this morning) and is MUCH more interested in the flimmin baby.

If think Murty should be given some credit for making haimself available to the public, particularly at a time when both the team as a whole and him personally are struggling. It would be very easy for him to make his excuses and duck this after a bad result at the weekend.

I fully agree, the session with Murts is generally shit but I think that's largely due to him being interviewed by a gormless twat who doesn't know anything about football.

I feel slightly reassured, listening to Murty, that the results hurt the players and the really do care, albeit probably not as much as most fans.

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but I still enjoy the feature.

Isn't he on for an hour, I'd find it really boring if it was football talk for an entire hour, and I like the way it's about his personal life, training, dressing room issues, other teams, holidays, whatever as well as what happened on the Saturday. The whole reason Karen goes in as well is because it is more than just about footie. Sorry, call me sad, but I like updates on how his life is getting on.

I also echo the point that peach does and schards - he does deserve and admirable nod of respect to make himself available every week. It is said on the show about how many other premiership captains are willing to take calls from kids, adults and others about his performance and explain it. Also the way he organises over the air to do visits to schools, football clubs and get signed shirts and things.

I agree that it's a good feature, and he does well to front up, and maybe my ire is aimed more at Peach who is, let's face it, a 13 year old girl trapped in a 40 year old man's body, but it stil doesn't stop it from being a pretty boring hour of radio. no 6th form angst here just the desperation of the regular commuter.

I think it may have to do with the time of day.

They never seem to be able to talk for any more than 5-6 minutes, as they constantly do traffic updates, news broadcasts, special features, etc... Probably the worst time to do it.

That would be my biggest criticism of BBCRB - they never properly run with a story. They only ever scratch the surface of anything before they move on to something else, so as soon as something gets interesting it's gone. I don't know if they just try to cram too much in or if they under-estimate the intelligence or attention-span of their listeners, but it's a consistent theme with them.

And, as you say, Peach is by far the worst at this.

to be fair it is morning radio - the today programme only has 3-minute slots apart from one 6-minute interview.

I also find Murty very earnest but maybe if he was being interviewed by, let's say, Johnny Saunders, he'd lighten up a bit

(I think) Murtz and the like have been filling this slot with Auntie Peach for the past two seasons or so.

(I guess it is a little less upbeat these days, given that this is merely our second best season ever)

However, I do not recall such critisism of presenter nor player (and his wife) over something so innoculous as a morning slot on a "bluerinse" local radio station this time last year.
