Some of you may remember these comments from Warnock about this time 2 years ago:

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has lashed out at Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafael Benitez for the teams they put against his side's relegation rivals.

The Blades were relegated after a 2-1 defeat by Wigan but Warnock was angry at the Liverpool side Benitez fielded in a 1-0 loss at Fulham on 5 May.

He also felt West Ham beat a weakened Manchester United 1-0 on Sunday.

He said: "What goes around comes around and maybe Chelsea will win the FA Cup and AC Milan the Champions League."

Warnock was making reference to United's game against Chelsea in the FA Cup final this Saturday and Liverpool's match against AC Milan in the Champions League final on 23 May.

United had already won the Premiership title when they played the Hammers, who needed at least a point at Old Trafford to guarantee survival.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's concentration in recent weeks appears to have been solely on the Champions League and Fulham secured their Premiership status by beating the Reds.

"I was disappointed at United's team," added Warnock. "You would have hoped and thought that, last game of the season, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic and probably two or three more might have played.

"I think Sir Alex sold me a dummy in midweek when he said he would field a strong team.

"He has his own reasons, though. Maybe the FA Cup final next week is more important to him.

"At least I knew the players that were playing. I didn't even know two of those that played for Liverpool at Fulham last week.

"I'd never heard of them but when you are a foreign manager like Rafa Benitez, you probably don't give two hoots about what Sheffield United think.

"It's a long journey to Fulham, so the players are probably better off at home with their feet up.

"You are bound to feel bitter about the circumstances in our relegation but it's not going to get us back in the Premiership.

"You just have to get over the bitterness and move on but it's difficult at the moment. Fate is fate, though. Life is like that."

The Blades had a late chance to equalise against 10-man Wigan but Danny Webber hit the post when one-on-one with keeper Mike Pollitt.

"It's a gut-wrenching and horrible feeling for all of us at the club," stated Warnock.

"It's the worst feeling of my career because it would have been my greatest achievement to keep us up.

"All season we haven't made it difficult enough for other teams and have given goals away when we have been in good positions.

"Wigan haven't had to work hard for either goal and we've committed suicide really. The lads have been magnificent and tried their hardest and I couldn't have got much more out of them.

"But it's still very disappointing when you go down because of the thickness of a post."

Warnock refused to be drawn on his own future amid claims that contract talks had broken down.

He stated: "I don't want to talk about myself. It's a time for the club to look at what has gone on and then think about me later."

Warnock is a oxf*rd.

He hates Reading and Wally Downs.

As you've mentioned he will feel very bitter regarding how Sheffield United got relegated and how they also got shafted with the whole Teves and West Ham situation.

I'm not convinced he hates Blackwell more than Downs.

Warnock is a Blades fan and having managed the club for so long he will still have a great affection for them.

My prediction.
He won't ask his Palace troops to throw the game (that's impossible), but he WILL field a weakened team and give the Blades the best possible chance to win the game. He'll blame it on injuries or he's trying out younger lads for next season.

Reading MUST win their game to stand a chance and that alone will stop Birmingham City going up. That will do me for starters.

There are other considerations though - Warnock hasn't exactly done a fantastic job this season and he'll want to show that his team is capable of beating the best. Losing abjectly might just cost him his job. Also, I can't see the CP players rolling over just like that .... And finally however much Warnock hates WD, he's got a good relationship with SC. Whatever happens we have nothing to lose by going all out for a win on Sunday. If Sheff Utd win so be it...at worst we would be going into the play offs in some kind of form..but the down side is we would finish third and that really is a pisser.

The blades are a best-price 13/20 on sunday.

It's looked to me like they're going to steal it for a few weeks now. My main fear, though, was of thousands of delirious brummies invading our turnip-field of a pitch as we shuffled forlornly out of the stadium. I'm feeling confident that we'll do enough to ensure that it's an entire ground full of disappointed people instead.

There's a lot to play for regardless of auto promotion. Of the 6 sides that might reach the playoffs, Sheffield United are in the best form, and would arguably be less affected by the disappointment of missing out on automatic, given that they haven't been there at all this season. Along with Preston, they're the ones to fear if we do miss out. If it turns out it's Cardiff I'll be quietly optimistic.

In all his somewhat eccentric outbursts of the past about other clubs, players and officials the one thing I would say about warnock is his pride and self esteem, and there is no way he would do anything to assist his former club, I have no doubts that he will put out his strongest Palace side on Sunday and they will compete in the match that they will want to win. He is probably the worst manager that Sheffield United would want to come up against at such a crucial part of the season.

Cost-cutting sees 10 up for axe at Crystal Palace

Neil Warnock will wield the axe at Crystal Palace next Monday with up to 10 senior players set for the chop, writes Andrew Fifield.

Shekfi Kuqi, James Scowcroft. Danny Butterfield, Johannes Ertl, Paul Ifill and John Oster are all likely to be told they can leave Selhurst Park as Palace cut costs.

I really can't see Palace turning up, Warnock factor or not. Their season is over.

As much as i hate to admit it, Warnock is a professional, he will be going into Sundays game in the same way, Reading, Brum and Sheffield Utd are, not worrying about how other teams are doing and wanting to do the best that their team can.
He hates losing, and won't want to on the last day of the season.

I really hate hearing the excuse being made that a team was helped when the opposition fielded a weaken team because they had nothing to play for, wanted to try out youngsters etc. If we complain about Warnock fielding a weaken team when they play Sheff Utd, then we have to admit we field a weaken team when it comes the cup games, and not give the excuse that we're flexing our full squad and giving other players a chance in the first team etc. Personally I don't care if one team does put out a different team to one they usually put out, so what? If it costs us promotion, then we shouldn't have messed up earlier games that we should have won like Southampton and Charlton, and not complain about a club who decide to change their team around: we shouldn't have to rely on them in the first place.

Exactly. You only worry about the other team's weakened side if you blew the first 45 games. If you don't want to be at another team's mercy, get points from those other games.

I would say exactly the opposite. Warnock is the one manager in the league who I would believe capable of, if not throwing a game, then going as easy as possible on the opposition. He despises Reading and has shown himself to be nasty, petty and vindictive in the past. Furthermore, as a whole, don't Palace hate Birmingham for historical reasons?

Don't expect any favours on Sunday.

If I were in Reading's management team I would be speaking to the press eluding that I believed Palace aren't going to turn up, in the hope that it would put a big focus on the issue and motivate their players to stick two fingers up at us. But that's not the Reading way.

^greed I really don't get people suggesting that Colin has any integrity at all, as I mentioned elsewhere he's been playing a weakened team for a few weeks now, just so nobody can point the finger at him on Sunday.
