Dan Harding

Reading this quote, "Dan Harding is training with Yeovil" made me wonder is he really not good enough for us? Admittedly, I did not watch him play in person last season, but from the TV it looked like he was up to the job. What are your opinions of him?

Decent player tbf. Good on the ball, and technically sound. Could certainly do better than Yeovil.

its only training with Yeovil doesnt mean he will sign up with them. He can train then move on

Is it possible for a player to fall between the cracks? Looked reasonable enough as cover for Stretch, but seemed to disappear off the radar with barely a peep when the season ended. The Yeovil thing must surely just be a stopgap - he's definitely second tier standard.

From what I saw last season, DH was just as good as Stretch. Now, if either of those two could play further forward on the left...

Harding looked average IMO. He had good games but he also had poor games. I'd have had him as better than Yeovil though, especially available on a free.

Armstrong being player of the season was a good reflection of how average we were last year, he's nowhere near prem class.
To be fair to harding, he was solid when he came in, should be playing in the championship.

Just perhaps a step down for a season to get back on track is a good move, has not playered regularly for a couple of seasons, so a promotion back with a decent time would look good for his career

I must have been watching a different team towards the end of last season - as far as I was concerned he was possibly the best (if not definitely top 3) of our players in the last 8-10 games.

I would sign him up personally.

To be fair to Harding going forward he wasn't all that, but defensively he had two of the most highly rated wingers in his pocket at both Derby (Kris Commons) and Burnley (Chris Eagles). He is an average Championship left back, and would be a good League 1 left back.

I thought he used the ball well going forward if he didnt run at the heart of defences (not many do...). He shaped to pass many times, cut inside and sold a player or two, which can lead to those spaces and creating time for strikers/midfielders to make runs.

The season took many twists and turns. Hunt being fantastic in the first third of the season and then very average. N Hunt, Lita, Long all having runs upfront - etc...

I have no doubt that some surgery needed to happen at the club and that Rodgers will bring in new ideas and ways of playing, but you still have to have a post mortem on what happened and can do a lot worse than retaining your best players, and judging on the last 3rd of the season I think they were:

Harding
Bikey
Tabb
Matejovsky (at times)

and you would probably concede that we missed N Hunt/Ingimarsson (and Doyle when injured/not fit)

Totally agree. As a free transfer, I can't understand why we haven't brought him in.

Because the new manager doesn't rate him perhaps - if Coppell were still here I think we would have gone for him.
