Just seen on SSN that all the players are going to club together and refund everyone's tickets from the Spurs game because they are so embarrassed! Quite a nice gesture that, I don't think, many other football players would do.

Just want to say again that its the players putting up nearly £15,000 for all the tickets not the club.

Did they have to do it? No.

I know its not loads of money but sometimes thats not always the case. It is the gesture that matters, I doubt that many other teams would have done this after getting 9 put past them.

Sorry but I do just find it to be a fairly empty gesture - sure it helps the fans out a bit but they will still be out of pocket having travelled down etc...

Yeah, wat the players should have done is employ some sort of secretarial (sp?) service and had all the fans who went fill in claim forms and submit petrol receipts/trains ticket stubs etc then added on an amount to be negotiated between them and the fans (say around £20) to cover food and drink which they couldn't prove purchase of.

Anyone self employed who took time off to travel down could have also then claimed for loss of earnings.

Who's bitching, just saying it seems like an empty gesture that's all - that's my personal opinion if you don't like then fair enough.

Surely an empty gesture would have been them saying "sorry bout us shipping 9 goals - here have a signed photo of us all" - giving fans their money back is something the people of Wigan will appreciate a hell of a lot, it simply shows them that the players are embarrassed about the performance. They could have done what Reading did, after we shipped 7 at Portsmouth................fcuk all.

It will make a difference to the fans, in terms of money in their pocket - so what is 'empty' about it? Fans invested time and money i the game. Now the players can't really do much about the time aspect. Why is the gesture judged based on the players' wealth, and not that of the fans, for example?

I wouldn't expect anything back, no matter the result. Surely you go to football knowing you could win 1-0 or get dicked 9-1........at the end of the day, a defeat is a defeat
