I expect we will see an amount of this going on this season, so before anyone starts

Ticket prices on a per match basis bouhgt before matchday (so when the club advertise this price a couple of days before the game it is not really promo) - £23

23 games, so to buy a ticket for every game will cost £529

Season ticket £395 (thats without the renewal discount)

529 - 395 = £134 worth of savings

with a match day price of £23 that means you get slightly over 5 "free" games, even more if you renewed your season ticket

Can't see a huge demand at £23 a game before the day, expect massive drop in attendances personally.

I agree, I have done both on this thread

new season ticket compared to the cheapest match day tickets = 5 "free" games

renewal season ticket to the more expensive match day tickets = 10 free games and a large chunk of one more match

I don't know many STH's that actually attend every one of the games though, so those freebies don't all count in the cold light of day.

If I didn't buy my ST then I wouldn't have to purchase all 23 games as I don't go to them all these days. I'd imagine the proportion of 100% usuage is pretty low.

Well they do in any meaningful comparison as those buying an ST have bought the right to attend - whether they exercise that is down to personal choice.

Why would they want it - buy-back schemes only work when the club is selling out. Why should the clkub buy back something they can't re-sell? No othr business in the world would.

And anyway, according to the statistics from the PL, when there is a buy-back scheme 83% of Season Ticket holders prefer not to use it and instead pass their ST onto friends or family.

The cost to administer it, also, is massive - not so much in money but in the time oif sales people, so this would put up waiting times for everyone (as it did when it was tried in 2007).

and the reason for this is ....

since the club cannot sell your seat again for more than face value, the only way they make money selling your ticket is by giving you less than face value back. Most buy back schemes offer you around half the value of the ticket, sometimes even less.

Buy back schemes are not the great idea people think they are!!
