Great result today from a tough Brum team that battled hard but were short of quality.

I thought the Pog had a great game, he really looks up for it now. Alf was poor he needs to learn the OFFSIDE rule. It's a bugbear of mind, I can forgive one or two offsides but it's not rocket science to spot their defence holding a high line and play around it.

Apart from the goals I thought Guthrie was poor, he look absolutely knackered in the second half as did HRK. Baird adds some stability to midfield and will fill in for Karacan well.

I thought HRK & Gunter were good today. I wouldn't say anyone was poor - although I fully expect Sharp to replace Alfie relatively soon.

Birmingham City let the conurbation down today. They were neat at times, but lacked any sort of cutting edge and we won without really getting out of second gear.

Guthrie was a clear man of the match with two goals to cap off a decent all round display. The second was a real peach of a free-kick, placement over power.

Other than that huge praise must go to our defence for yet another clean sheet. What a great platform to build on; this could be a very interesting season indeed.

Never got out 2nd gear, but didn't need to. Get the feeling there's an awful lot more to come from this squad. Really promising signs.

The main positive from a routine win is.....what might we be able to do to teams if we actually play well? We sleep-walked our way past a diabolical Birmingham side, the worst opposition this season. We kept possession well but we were generally one-paced and sluggish. I really don't understand why we take an age over a short goal kick, only for the ball to be returned to McCarthy to hammer up the park. ALF again showed why he doesn't start games, utterly anonymous. His only telling contribution was in not touching the ball; his run wrong-footed the goalkeeper for Guthrie's first to drop apologetically in at the far post. HRK: take a look at McCleary's game and learn, pal. Perhaps also consider losing a bit of weight.

A better side would have turned us over today. Luckily in this bang-average division there aren't many decent sides (save Watford who tore us a new one for 45 minutes).

When Sharp gets up to speed, Drenthe is fit again & we have say another 6 or so games under our belt, we really could be quite good

Positive signs in the first half that we could be becoming a half decent team. Good possession, and with purpose.
That is until the ball went near HRK....slow, can't beat a man, bullied off the ball, lazy passing.

you miss the point, for his size his strength isn`t in the air, his skill is on the deck his hold up play on the ball was superb today, granted he did miss that late chance, but the game was already over.

Disappointing to not get a clean sheet and also that I missed the third goal despite being there till the end ....

I don't think the club thought much about the flat atmosphere.. this kept popping up today.
