I'd extend that list to include Kaveh Solokol (sp?), Brian Swanson, Jim White, sod it, let's just say all male SSN presentersWinston Biscuit wrote:Dharmesh Whatzit is maybe the only man on tv I want to punch
I'd say 24 is not young. He's been nowhere near the Liverpool first team for 4 years (was he only in because of injuries before that?), its not like he's done anything remarkable when on loan either. Championship is probably his level but its a lot of money for someone who has not improved or shown any signs of improving in the last 4 years. Not saying that Ilori wasn't expensive either.NewCorkSeth wrote:I think a lot of clubs are just happy to push through deals for good prospects. Hes young (24 is young right?), home-grown, talented and has a good re-sale value. Liverpool probably figured 4.5 million is the most they can ask for while still sounding reasonable and probably attached some sell-on clauses.
Does Ilori have a sell on clause? He cost 4 million or so right?
I think its a fair enough price for a CB in the current scheme of things.

I have no idea who the first guy is..... It says something about football these days when I need to Google half the players being transferred.Winston Biscuit wrote:Corentin Tolisso joins Bayern for €41.5M
Sounds like Douglas Costa is leaving Bayern for Juve for €40M
Think it says more about your general knowledge about football tbf.double d wrote:I have no idea who the first guy is..... It says something about football these days when I need to Google half the players being transferred.Winston Biscuit wrote:Corentin Tolisso joins Bayern for €41.5M

Kodija is probably the only one I would like at Reading but not for 11 million!
I'm glad we keep transfers low. Keeps us grounded.
Absolutely, I don't thnk the headline prices are often met. I remember Madejski making that same point about (I think) the £19m Leeds had paid for Rio Ferdinand at a Fans Forum.Winston Biscuit wrote:I would imagine a lot of those transfer fee's are never actually met though. A bit like when McCormack went to Fulham for a reported £11M and people were staggered, then much later it was revealed £5.5M of that was a bonus upon promotion to the PL and the other £5.5M had targets that had to be met meaning it may not all be paid either
