Paul Warne 30/1
Some great names there - I would gladly take any of them.

Would drive Richardson to Blackburn myself if that was the case

14/1 for the favourite? Shows they haven’t a clue either
That isn't the top of the market.
Chris Coleman seems to be currently favourite, followed by Wagner, Mowbray and Bilic. All 6/1 or lower

This new Chronic reporter is clueless isn`t he? just picked up a story in the national media and put it out there.

I thought Robbie Savage was favourite.

To be fair, his managerial record is pretty good.

Got to be Paul Ince though, hasn't it? I wouldn't put it past the Venkys.

He’s done well here so far but I wouldn’t say he’s done a lot more than address some pretty obvious failings. Just been very well backed in the window

Not like he’s made us brilliantly entertaining or pulled a couple of players out the academy/reserves and made them superstars etc

400k would be good money but we’ve just spent that in the window in players who he wanted
Regardless of players just signed, IMO £400K would come nowhere near covering all the costs and disruption caused by losing a manager in this manner.

THe new reporter is getting a lot of unfair criticism IMO. I'd be interested to know what people would expect him to do in this situation: Just ignore the story? Get ahead of the national media by ringing around managerless clubs asking whether they might be inclined to approach/employ our manager?

Personally, I wasn't aware of Blackburn's supposed interest until I heard about it through the local media,

Tony Mowbray now seems to be in pole.

But Charlie Snr is rocking up fast on the inside.

To be an effective journalist, you require contacts. That's something that will take time to build up, but I would've thought the Chronicle would've already had contacts at the club. Seems he was previously at Brighton, so probably doesn't have anything local. Does make you wonder if a more local journalist didn't apply if he was chosen.

In terms of this specific story though, I wouldn't expect him to have any news on what Blackburn's intentions were prior to a national or Blackburn-area source publishing a story.

Apparently TalkSport has said Richardson is on a shortlist, but that doesn't mean very much at this stage.

No one but LEAM really knows but it does seem like journos clutching at straws then clueless jounos then copy and pasting or making articles with no substance.

I wouldn’t say he’d be mad to leave us for Blackburn but also not sure it’s a great move.

I wouldn’t cry any tears if he left but on the other hand we have done alright since he came in and I’d quite like to see him stay and have a crack at next season.

From the Chronicle:

Leam Richardson said: "You can never stop speculation. I was on the doorstep for many years up there, a few promotions and sold a lot of players, etc.

"So I can understand the speculation, but my full focus is on the job at hand.

"I've got a massive game on Saturday. I've had a really good week with the players. Again, I don't really do social media, so you'll probably know a lot more than I. But yeah, my full focus is on Reading Football Club."

He also said that nor his agent nor himself were formally approached by Blackburn Rovers for the role.

He added: "My focus hasn't veered in any shape or form from what I'm set out to do and my role at this club."

Yeah. He didn’t rule it out though did he?

He’s been very political with his words -
‘he nor his agent have been formally approached’ What about informally?

‘My full focus is on the job at hand’ - that’s not saying no I’m not going anywhere.

FWIW I don’t think he’s going, but that’s a very wishy washy statement leaving the door open still if Blackburn wanted to contact him.

Standard stuff really. Robbie said something equally wishy-washy about his links:
“It’s purely speculation. I loved my time there, a brilliant football club, and I loved all my old clubs that I played for, but it’s purely speculation. Listen, it will be somebody else’s name tomorrow.

I love my time here, I’ve got a great relationship with Dale, Asif and Mark, and we’re on a journey, a project, and it’s something I can’t wait to see it through. So, yeah, it’s purely speculation, and it will be someone else tomorrow. (There’s) nothing at all (for the fans to worry about).”
At least they’ve said something to reject the idea rather than just keeping schtum while the rumours carry on around them.

And you know football changes quickly and money talks in the end so who knows what’ll happen.

Now that O'Neill has gone, Leam is again a candidate for the Blackburn job according to Rami at the Chronicle.

O’Neill took the job on a temporary basis to review at end of season and has now decided to return full time to the Northern Ireland managerial role.

So, as above, back into the frying pan over Leam but suspect Rovers would be after bigger fish rather than trying to trigger another fan backlash amongst the club’s supporters.

This is just a rehash of previous rumours with no real substance behind it, and the odds reflect that.

That new Chronicle journo is awful. Rehashing rumours he hears elsewhere, adding 2+2 and publishing stories with minimal substantiaton. And his chances of getting a genuine scoop from the club will surely be low now he's pissed off the entire club with inflammatory front pages. It's as if you gave one of the "ITK" Twitter idiots a job there.
