Very definitely. It would've probably increased our chances of a higher position too!John Madejski's Wallet wrote: ↑04 May 2026 12:54 Considering where we were when he took over, would people be less angry where we ended up had the football at least been half exciting and attacking?
It’s not like it was *that* shit though was it? You make it sound like he took us down and you were the only one warning everyone. Even with the terrible finish he got us very comfortable and safe pretty quickly. He could have done an awful lot worseBrogue wrote: ↑04 May 2026 12:00Why would I start another manager out thread? I started this one because it was a shit appointment and I could see it was on day one. Bring in someone decent or literally anyone - jeff from the dog and duck is going to be than LinkedIn LeamSutekh wrote: ↑04 May 2026 11:48While I’d support his departure, I really just can’t see the point of changing to bring someone else in (and all the unknowns that’d bring at a key point in a season) who we all will likely goas soon as he’s announced and you (Brogue) will then immediately start another “manager out” thread on.
When was the last time Reading owners appointed a manager that we nearly all got excited by from the start? Probably Coppell as he was a known quantity. Since then it’s all been one long line of largely “cheap untried options” or their mates that no one has been overly supportive of - even Brian was a bit of let down to many, when first appointed, and seen as being cheap. What we probably want is a charismatic man managing dynamo that believes in entertaining football. Is there an up and coming Jurgen Klopp out there?
At the end of the day it’s Todd & Rob’s call & they’re not stupid, they must know and hear what the general fan feeling is so they need to take that negative into mind in the supposed season review they said they’d mount at the end of the season so supposedly any decision, if it’s going to be made, will happen by the end of this week.
And anyway, which managers are there currently out there that are realistically available for a supposedly aspiring 3rd division football club that would get the fans excited and buying the various subscriptions in their droves?
There was nothing random about Richardson and his coaching package’s appointment. It was a pre-agreed appointment. Couhig let slip that he told Richardson that he was his choice to be the Reading manager following Seles’ departure to Hull. The fly in the ointment was Noel getting a long term deal straight off the bat, rather than a caretaker or interim role. Either of which would have been to the end of the season.Sutekh wrote: ↑04 May 2026 12:11Actually having an interview process, rather than just ringing up someone randomly and offering the job, might be of benefit to one and all next time.
so there we go then.morganb wrote: ↑04 May 2026 13:36https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/spor ... xt-season/Leam Richardson has said that he will 'absolutely' be at Reading FC next season following the defeat to Blackpool in the last game of the season, which sees the Royals winless in six games.
This boils my absolute urine. I'm so angry about this utter nonsense. It was not an even game at all.Reacting to the defeat, Reading FC boss Leam Richardson said: "I mean, if you take the game in isolation, it's probably an even game.

A fair amount of fans won't be if that's the case then.morganb wrote: ↑04 May 2026 13:36https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/spor ... xt-season/Leam Richardson has said that he will 'absolutely' be at Reading FC next season following the defeat to Blackpool in the last game of the season, which sees the Royals winless in six games.
This comment from Leam, I’d actually quite like to hear the intricacies as to what has gone on ?morganb wrote: ↑04 May 2026 13:36https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/spor ... xt-season/Leam Richardson has said that he will 'absolutely' be at Reading FC next season following the defeat to Blackpool in the last game of the season, which sees the Royals winless in six games.
Where does the connection between Couhig and Richardson come from?West F wrote: ↑04 May 2026 14:01There was nothing random about Richardson and his coaching package’s appointment. Why would a businessman make such an important decision as this without seeing the options available at the time rather than some years old gentleman's agreement?
And why wouldn't Rob look at the current situation and assess it on its own merit rather than simply using some "we need stability" sound bite?
What game were you watching? Blackpool had 5 shots on target to our none. At least twice JP made saves when they were clear through on goal.ILoveMoonPig wrote: ↑04 May 2026 16:15 To be completely fair to him, there was very little to pick between the two sides, we were both poor and very low on quality in that game. Passes being mis-hit, poor ball control, shots ballooning over the bar, crosses flying straight over the entire pitch etc etc.
Although zero shots on target at home against a club below us in the league, isn't great. The only thing I want from next season is now shots on target.
With one world class save in the first half. Richardson sees the game differently to the supporters. He is looking at shape and defensive resilience above all else. Since he came in, we concentrate on the defensive and hope to nick a goal and hang on. More productive as a strategy with Marriot.MR. CYNICAL wrote: ↑04 May 2026 22:24What game were you watching? One assumes that football decisions are led by Jacobson.morganb wrote: ↑04 May 2026 21:23Where does the connection between Couhig and Richardson come from?West F wrote: ↑04 May 2026 14:01There was nothing random about Richardson and his coaching package’s appointment.
